I put out an article a few weeks back going over a festival I recently played at. In that article, I mentioned that I went old school and didn’t use IEMs. I decided to go through why I didn’t use IEMs and also what it was like. This is interesting because this is the first gig in a few years that I have done without IEMs! It was a big and interesting change. Make sure to let me know your thoughts in the comments below! If you want to check out the full article and review, then you can head over to the link in our bio!🎸

Are you planning to play your first festival gig soon? Or do you want to play some festival gigs? After doing my first one, I thought I would put together my thoughts and lessons that I discovered and figured out! There were some areas which were a lot different than a normal gig which my band would do! Make sure to let me know your thoughts in the comments below! LOOK! 👀

Components assembled for a new set of Leviathan 8 string humbuckers from the mighty @alchemypickups.

I’ve been including Alchemy Leviathans in my erg builds for a few years now, they are far and away the most brutal metal pickups I’ve ever had the pleasure to use, and Jack is an absolute diamond to work with.

This build will be bordering on the ridiculous, watch this space!

Happy #gibsunday

This one started life as a bit of a project… always loved the stripped-back look of the Les Paul CM, so I picked one up with a plan in mind.

Out went the G-Force tuners, replaced with ’59 Parts aged Kluson Deluxes, swapped in a humbucker-sized Regia HSP90 P90 from Alchemy Pickups, added an ABM wraparound bridge, and upgraded the wiring with a Luxe Bumblebee cap and 500k RS SuperPot kit.

Finished it off with some Tele-style knobs

Not many pedals get me super excited! However, the @mythospedals Golden Fleece is one of them! I have seen it and heard it many times and each time it got me more and more interested in it (mainly from @chrisbuckguitar). So I needed to try it! I ordered it and gave it a good playing hoping it was going to be like the other videos I had watch! Luckily, it was! What’s in a name?
Here’s a little look at my latest offering, the Kadexen, its name being a bastardisation of the Finnish ‘kahdeksan’ meaning ‘eight’. I chose this because the Finns are famous for their love of metal 🤘🏻
This prototype has been approximately six months in the forges, and features a mighty Leviathan humbucker set from @alchemypickups.
Once it is used to string tension I will give it a proper setup and get @toby.shredz to record a demo!

"You can't have metal AND blues in one guitar."

Jack from Alchemy Pickups proved that wrong 🔥

His Obsidian pickup set does the "impossible" - aggressive modern metal tones AND warm vintage blues tones in the same guitar.

I interviewed him at the Woking Boutique Guitar Show to find out how he did it.

Metal AND Blues... in the SAME guitar? 🤯

I sat down with Jack from Alchemy Pickups to hear about his "impossible" challenge: creating pickups that deliver crushing metal tones AND warm vintage blues... without switching guitars.

The Obsidian pickup set is the result. And honestly? I didn't think it was possible.

Today I received this beautiful Leviathan humbucker set from Jack at Alchemy Pickups. I’ve used these superb pickups from Alchemy several times in recent years and every time they’ve been outstandingly good, and incredibly well overwound - check out those output readings!
For all your brutally aggressive pickup requirements, you should definitely check out his work!
