John Anderson had an unforgettable voice & a beautiful spirit. This picture was taken in 2022 at Johnny Cash's old cabin studio in Hendersonville, TN where I spent the day with John talking about his remarkable comeback from a mysterious illness that for a time took away his hearing. John had five #1 country hits and fifteen more top ten songs. "Years," off his final studio album, is a real favorite of mine. I was so sad to hear the news last night that we'd lost John at age 71.

Earlier this month, I had the honor of sitting down with CBS’s Anthony Mason for A New York Evening with Maggie Rose, presented by the GRAMMY Museum.

We talked about the journey that led me to Half Moon, finding my voice along the way, becoming a mother while making this record, and the story behind “Gentle Man,” a song that took on a whole new meaning when I found out I was going to have my son.

Anthony, thank you for such a thoughtful conversation and for the incredibly kind words about this music. And thank you to the GRAMMY Museum for giving us the space to tell these stories.
