I didn’t sign up for yoga teacher training because I wanted to teach. An inconvenient thing to admit about something with “teacher training” in the name.
I signed up to learn. To make space. To get back into my body — or maybe into it for the first time, in a way that felt less like a negotiation between a rest day and a marathon.
On day 1, I brought a lot of unknowns into a room. A room that made clear it was okay to not know yet, where the answers just opened into better questions, where “it depends” stopped being a cop-out and became a practice. I came in expecting a framework. I left with a better relationship to not having one.
I learned that the nervous system has opinions and they are usually right. That a pose is rarely about the pose. That breath is the one thing you can’t fake your way through. That learning to teach mostly taught me how much I still have to learn.
So. For all of it — thank you to @erinehlersyoga and @theportlandyogaproject for crafting the magic from start to finish. For a cohort (I mean, “my best friends” - @samliebig) that made it less scary to be new. For the laughter, the snacks, the feedback, the small moments between the big ones.
After 200 hours over 6 months, I’m leaving with more questions than I came in with. And they feel like much better ones.

The most insane thing I did last year to conclude 2025 and the end of my twenties was deciding to write a murder mystery from scratch for my friends just 3 weeks before my birthday. Definitely confirmed a few things I already suspected about myself such as, I’m a huge procrastinator, I do my best work under extreme pressure, I spend too much money on small things that only I notice or care about AND I love to play. Creatively this project made me feel so fulfilled and accomplished. By the time the 19th was upon us I had written 16 characters with individual motives, 22 wax sealed gametime clues, made customized matchbooks, place cards, name tags, incriminating evidence, a fake body and my own costume.

Remembering to be playful was so important to me last year, it’s basically saved me from the pits of despair. Also I could write a whole dissertation on why life is way better when you stop being afraid of being “cringe” or stupid. This entire night was the kind of thing 22 year old me would have rolled her eyes at and 8 year old me would have thought was fucking amazing. The cherry on top is only having 3 videos because there was barely a phone in sight.

What really made the night perfect was my amazing friends who learned their characters, dressed for their part, played all night long as the part I wrote for them, and then surprised me with photographs, gifts, cakes, decorations, imagination and affectionate words. I love and appreciate my buddies more than I can ever express and their participation showed me that that will never be one sided. Special shoutout to @hannobarron @mariakileycrawford and @rachelyarid who all helped me put this together and were somehow delighted to do so. And @ryan_aversan0 who lugged all my belongings to the airbnb and sat with me while I typed on my computer for two weeks. I know 30 will be filled with even more playing and creating.

These human beings. This company. These plants. And my BIG OL HEART. Today was one for the books. All my dreams are coming true and I’m so thrilled to say I’m building the most incredible team and support system of the most stellar human beings I could have ever imagined.

I have worked SO hard the last (almost) 4 years all in pursuit of attracting the aligned opportunities that are so beautifully falling into my lap now.

This journey of growing East Pine since March of 2020 has been anything but easy. I’ve poured every ounce of blood, sweat, lots of tears, and every single penny to my name into East Pine over the last 4 years and now it’s finally time to start building back up from zero. The entrepreneurial journey is not for the faint of heart, but my god, if you love what you do and you believe in your vision, it’s fucking worth it.

My sweet baby East Pine is getting ready to bloom in 2024, and as her Momma I just gotta say I can’t wait to watch my baby bloom so big and beautiful and bright for the whole world to see. It’s all unfolding in perfect divine timing. What a gift. ♥️
