The water remembers what we are still learning to honor. 🌊
CONTRA-TIEMPO moves, creates, and gathers on the ancestral, traditional, and unceded territory of the Tongva people - the original stewards of this land we call Los Angeles.

We don’t take that for granted. We carry that responsibility into every rehearsal, every performance, every community we enter.

sugar was once medicine. extracted, refined, weaponized. ¡azúcar! asks us to reclaim it. 🍫

in rehearsal we excavate, unearthing ancestral wisdoms, moving through personal narratives of food, labor, and healing, letting celia cruz’s vibrations guide us back to something whole.

on stage, that excavation becomes a tapestry. a confrontation. a call for liberation. an affirmation of our future as a people.

what you see in the lights was first found in the work. ✨

Who’s ready to see this work come back to the stage? 👀

SALSA FOR THE KIDS! My heart is so full. ♥️ Gratitude doesn’t even begin to describe the immense appreciation I have for my dear friend @alek.glopez . Thank you for performing with me even though you had to miss work and this morning was filled with so many challenges like the costume not making it but you made it work and it had such a positive impact on me and all the kids and staff. Their jaws were on the floor!
