Void_Melbourne is pleased to announce our presentation at the 10th edition of Sydney Contemporary this September.

We will be featuring Melbourne-based artists Alex Walker and Nick Devlin, alongside Sydney-based artist Justin Trendall.

Nick Devlin explores the process of gestural marks on canvas. The surfaces resemble a field of tiny strokes or cellular marks, creating a vibrating optical texture. From a distance the paintings read almost as colour fields; up close they reveal the accumulation of individual marks. For Sydney Contemporary, Nick will continue his exploration with gestural & layered marks through a series of new works on canvas, echoing the qualities associated with optical abstraction and process-based painting; there is no focal point, figure, or horizon. Instead, the painting functions as a continuous visual field, balancing gesture, colour contrast, and surface texture.

Our booth promises a carefully conceived and coherent presentation which reflects the gallery's ongoing ethos.
