I’ve been wanting to get Chris back in front of my camera ever since I shot his group headshot 5 years ago. He’s one of the rock stars at The Baldwin Group, and just a genuinely an amazing person to know and photograph. This time we shot a whole range for him, from updated headshots to portraits with a little more personality and his incredible vibe at my Costa Mesa studio. This was one of my favorites.

This image is the beginning of a new intentional, editorial direction I’ve wanted to bring into my high school senior work for a long time. While I like photographing senior sessions outside in beautiful SoCal light and I’m definitely not stopping that, this editorial studio work is the direction that’s been pulling at me for a while. Sophia was the perfect senior to explore this with. I photographed her parents’ wedding more than 20 years ago, and now here she is, stepping into her own next chapter, and somehow a new chapter in mine too. #OrangeCountyPhotographer #CostaMesaPhotographer #SeniorPortraitsOC

Oliver, teen actor, age 16. I first photographed Oliver’s family over 20 years ago. Two years ago, I photographed him when he was 14 and needed his first set of acting headshots. A few weeks ago, he was back in the studio for updated headshots, and this kid gets more fun every time I photograph him. For film and commercial work, he has a such great range, from the kid next door to the sensitive kid, the underdog, and the one who can turn the whole room sideways in about five seconds. I love photographing actors. I used to act, and that taught me how much direction from the photographer matters. It’s not about a perfect smiling headshot, or just staring down the camera. It’s about pulling out those micro-expressions in the eyes, eyebrows and mouth that make a casting director stop and get curious enough about you for an audition. Actors are extra fun to work with because we get to play so much during the shoot while we’re collaborating on something that actually gives casting something to work with. If you’re an actor (or have one in your family) and need headshots that actually work for casting, reach out. #orangecountyheadshots #actorheadshotsoc #costamesaphotographer #orangecountyactors #ocactorheadshots

This popped up in my memories this morning. Eight years ago. My goddaughter and Monty. I still love this one. I grew up on the back of a horse, so shoots like this will always mean a little more to me.🏇 #OrangeCountyPhotographer #EquinePhotography #EquestrianPortraits #OrangeCountyPortraits #CaliforniaPhotographer

Five years ago, I was brought in by a longtime client to photograph 500+ headshots for The Baldwin Group, including their executive team. Chris stood out immediately. Some people just have that presence. I knew I wanted to get him in front of my camera again for more than a standard headshot. Today, we finally made that happen.

A preview from Diane’s 40 Over 40 portrait session. Diane was referred to me by @genahealth , who also did this project with me, and I love how these sessions keep finding their way to the right women. The whole point of 40 Over 40 is to create portraits that feel like who you are now. I love crafting images that really reflect my client‘s personality. More from Diane’s session soon. Anne Marie Ellis came back to my studio for updated headshots more than 12 years after I photographed her the first time. This time, it was to mark a big new chapter: Her role as Managing Partner at Buchalter’s Orange County office. This is one of my favorite parts of what I do. These headshots aren’t just about looking current…they often mark a moment. A promotion, a shift, a new level of visibility where your image needs to match exactly where you are now. Photographed in my Costa Mesa studio. Congratulations, Anne Marie. Such a well-earned milestone. Photographer: @alexabercrombie Hair & Makeup by: @juliagonzales_beauty #OrangeCountyHeadshots

Photographed Cynthia Berger recently at my Costa Mesa studio for an updated headshot. This is exactly why people update their headshots. One solid image can go a long way. Cynthia, thank you for coming in. Loved working with you again! #OrangeCountyHeadshots #CostaMesaPhotographer #NewportBeachHeadshots #IrvineHeadshots #BrandingPhotographer

Had such a great time photographing Natalie Elser recently for her upcoming website refresh. Natalie is the President of California Professional Accountants Group and a CPA & CEPA who works closely with entrepreneurs and closely held businesses throughout So Cal. She’s built her firm around long-term relationships and really partnering with her clients, which is something I always appreciate when I get to photograph people like her. This was part of a branding session we did last month at my Costa Mesa studio to create a set of new portraits for her updated website that’s coming soon. And thank you to Brian Petrocelli for connecting us.⚡️ Hair/makeup by her talented sister: @curlsandblondesby_jacquie #orangecountyheadshots #costamesaphotographer #executiveheadshots #personalbrandingphotography #orangecountypersonalbranding

Senior photo season is starting to pop up on my calendar again, which reminded me how many favorite sessions I’ve never shared here. So I thought it would be fun to start posting a few of them. This is amazing Lilly. I photographed her senior photos a few years ago here in Newport, and now she’s off at Ole Miss living her best life. She absolutely crushed this session and it’s still one of my favorites. One of the fun things about being a photographer in this area for so many years is that many of the seniors I photograph eventually circle back around for LinkedIn or internship headshots as they start their careers. It’s always a full circle moment seeing them again. If you have a senior this year and want photos before graduation sneaks up on you, reach out and we’ll get something on the calendar. . . . #orangecountyseniorphotos #newportbeachseniorphotos #orangecountyseniorphotographer #orangecountyheadshots #orangecountyheadshotphotographer
