Four years later & @alexander_campbell is still uncomfortable being asked Qs on camera 😂

He hated this but I had to sit down with him again after our couple of days of walking together to see how he felt having created an enormous online community & covering over 20,000kms by foot!

My feet have a fair bit of recovering to do, but can’t wait to do it all again with Zan on another continent soon! 🌎

This day was a lot more play than work! How wonderful to be surrounded by so many outdoor creators, hiking through the beautiful mountains of Germany, making new friends, and exploring nature.

What a beautiful way to wrap up a summer hiking across Europe on the Wolf Trail. After 6 countries hiked through, a couple thousand kilometres under foot, and tons of work, this huge project comes to an end for the season.

Big shoutout to my fellow athletes who worked on this project with me, we’ve certainly had a wild ride on this adventure 🫶🏼

Thanks to @jackwolfskin for getting so many people out on their first overnight hikes and sharing thruhiking with more of Europe 💕 I’m looking forward to sharing more from this summer over the next few weeks!

Stories from the road. Kyrgyzstan 🇰🇬

Recently @alexander_campbell shared some stories about locals warning him about wolves. 🐺 which reminded me how common it was to hear this on the road!

I was told several times by locals not to attempt this trail in Kyrgyzstan. Mostly due to the fact winter was fast approaching and that the wolves had come down for winter. Often locals telling me I would be eaten!! During my trip , this was said often and I’ll admit I stopped taking it seriously.

However, Vividly I remember the Kygryz women who stopped me on the path , putting both her hands on my shoulders and said “no”in a deep voice and actioned wolf like gestures - I got my phone out and she spoke into it , the translation “wolf hungry in winter”!

I had bought a small knife from a market which in itself was a hilarious attempt of feeling safe. I knew deep down if a pack of wolves found me , this small knife would do absolutely nothing to help the situation 😂

I normally listen to locals and this is where I felt uncomfortable deciding whether they were being extra cautious or whether it was realistic that I’d actually see wolves. I decided the chances were slim and I decided if it was going to happen, it would happen and I wouldn’t know about it anyway so no point overthinking. So off I went and it was one of the most beautiful trails I’d ever been on… wolf free.

On my trip, I saw one or two wolves in the far distance who both smelled me and ran away in the other direction. The one night on the border of Armenia where I heard a pack of wolves howling in the distance terrified the life out of me but I had ridden 180km in headwind so fell asleep to the sound of them 😂
