A heartfelt farewell to the great and generous actor, Alan Mandell (far right), whose guidance was indispensable to our production of Godot. This was my first time meeting Alan, several years ago, at a discussion arranged by Alexander technique maestro, @jean_louis_rodrigue. Alan lived a rich and full artistic life.

Congrats, @aldenehrenreich! For his debut on Broadway, he prepared with Jean-Louis to embody this intense, animalistic character — and he has won a Tony for the role: Best Featured Actor in a Play, “Becky Shaw.” 🎭 🏆 👏

Revisiting the time spent in Germany in February 2020 at @berlinaletalents learning Alexander technique and animal studies from the kind hearted @jean_louis_rodrigue and @thekristofkonrad .

How I yearn to be away from where I am right now . I crave to feel different than I feel right now . I want our collective sorrow (context : war ) to end ! Some days I just observe my emotions , other days act upon them . Today seems like the latter . One large part of being an actor is also being an empathetic being and with that come barrage of emotions .
Grateful for teachers and techniques that u have been fuming on my path .

Day 5 of Embodying the Character in Film and Theatre.

A day where finally everything came full circle. All the knowledge was put into practice.
After a guided meditation, each actor prepared a collage / visual Moodboard of the animal and character they will act. A mix of music, visuals, quotes, words, anything to define that character and animal.
It was beautiful to witness this artistic expression in so many different forms and most of all, to see how these actors felt safe and open to share.

Day 2 of embodying the character: from breathing exercises to breathing in the air of Tropea, standing on top at the Sanctuary of S. Maria dell’Isola, and soaking up the energy of the town and the people we met along the way.
We ended the day with a walk by the beach and dinner @sunsetbeachclubtropea , every meal perfectly paired with wine.
This week’s mantra, “I have time,” has truly been embraced and lived by the group.

Day 4 in Italy 🇮🇹 Acting Retreat

Today felt like a reset in the best possible way.

We spent the day at a beautiful family-owned winery, making homemade pasta, stuffed onions, and eggplant parmesan together before wandering the grounds and taking in the views. It honestly didn’t feel real at times.

I found myself spontaneously crying twice today, just overwhelmed with gratitude.

Gratitude for life, for beauty, for this experience.

I’ve never experienced anything quite like this before.

Being able to share it with Oliver and have Eric here with me makes it even more meaningful.

At some point, I took a nap, which basically never happens for me 😂 And when I woke up, I realized I had completely missed dinner. Oops.

Between the jet lag, lack of sleep, and all the deep learning and emotional processing happening here, I think my body just needed the reset.

Later, I recharged my social battery by heading into town with the boys. The locals here are so kind and hilarious. We had authentic fresh fish and the catch of the day, and after dinner they brought out limoncello on the house, plus a tiny splash of Campari for Oliver. Then of course… gelato!

Wore a Canadian Tuxedo 😊 and let my hair up in a high pony, not my signature bun.

New place.
Trying new things. 💫

Day 2: 🇮🇹 🎭

I learned to trust my impulses.
To create space for choice as an actor.

In church, a sense of “it’s all going to be OK.”
And the beach was heaven on earth.

How blessed are we to be alive and to LIVE.
