POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

It’s officially the last day of summer! 🍂✨

Summer 2020 wasn’t anything like we imagined it’d be, but we hope y’all found some socially-distant ways to enjoy it. Maybe we should brainstorm some COVID-safe activities for autumn and share them on the show... If y’all have ideas, let us know! 🍂✨

“You Good, Sis?: The Workshop” Here’s a rough draft of what we’re doing and how we’re doing it. Click the link in our bio for the full intro to our show! 🎬✨

We ran an entire Zoom rehearsal before filming our first episode. COVID-19 can take the actors out of the theatre, but not the theatre out of the actors. Our official set, lights and mics are on the way (lol but really). For now, here are some clips of our run-through. And yes, Alexia knows that one sentence made no sense. 🤦🏽‍♀️😂

I know y’all didn’t expect us to be serious. Our first episode is available on YouTube! Start your week learning, unlearning, laughing and twerking with us. Audio-only versions are available on your favorite podcast platforms (Apple, Spotify, SoundCloud), but the gold is in the YouTube video. Trust us. At the very least, we’re serious about that. 🎧✨🎬

Alexia x Kayla. Sort of like peanut butter x jelly, Salt x Pepa, chicken x waffles. About a month ago, Alexia called me late at night with an idea, and here we are making our mark on Juneteenth. We do hope you enjoy our first episode. We hope you listen mindfully, and laugh gutturaly (not a real word). We hope you share your thoughts with us. And we promise to only go up from here. link in bio. Happy Juneteenth, y’all - Kayla 🔮💖

Happy Juneteenth!! Our first full YouTube episode is FINALLY up. The podcast streams are cute, but *this* is the heart of “You Good, Sis?” Watch our lil baby using the link in our bio! She’s learning to walk, but we’re so proud of her— and ourselves. 🎧✨🎬

So, it’s me... Alexia 👸🏽... a New-York-based actor who was born, raised and trained in the Washington, DC area! After earning my BFA in Musical Theatre from Howard University, I spent a couple of years working as an actor, dancer and teaching artist in the DC area. In 2017, I flew from a gig in Seoul, South Korea (where I met Kayla) and relocated to New York City— a place that has offered me brilliant opportunities to perform and to learn. The city can be HIGHLY stressful, but I’m thrilled to be in here in pursuit of my mission: using theatre, television and film as mediums to hold a mirror to society. To celebrate, challenge, and spark curiosity about what we see in the reflection. Hopefully, “You Good, Sis?” can accomplish the same! ✨

Our first segment, “Ain’t That… Umm?!”, is half current events/half art-association-game. How are today's headlines reflected in the songs, plays, musicals, books, shows and movies we already love? When art mirrors life, can we be honest about what we see in the reflection? (We'll mostly laugh about it, but we'll challenge and question and rant about it too. Balance.) Click the link in our bio to find our YouTube page and the full “Ain’t That… Umm?!” teaser. We went full out and found some headlines to play with, too. Because have you met us? 🎧✨🎬

In the midst of chaos, heartbreak and outrage, we’re taking a moment to celebrate the first day of Pride month. 🌈 This world continues to struggle to honor that being loved, respected, treasured, protected and celebrated wherever you are is a human need. A human right. We should not have to fight for it, but we will. We absolutely will. 🌈 AND never forget that a Black transwoman is at the core of the Pride movement. Marsha P. Johnson. We say her name, and we wish you all a Happy Pride! 🌈

Why be racist, sexist, homophobic or transphobic when you could just *do better?*

We got fancy and put all of our platforms in one place. Link in our bio! Follow us on all of the things and listen to a teaser or two before we celebrate Juneteenth with our *official premiere tomorrow.* If any of the links don’t work for you, let us know! We barely know what we’re doing right now. 🙃

Y’all are still getting to know us, so this week, we shared our favorite podcasts... which led to this very logical, very sincere plea to @brokeymcpoverty and @hebennigatu. Come on. Is this not meant to be? 😂
