First of all, thank you to @outinjerseymag for having me.

I was having a conversation this morning with my dear friend, @antwone_b , and we talked about how our younger selves would view us now. I don’t have to look back very far for a previous version of myself to be amazed by where I’m at today.

Go back 10 years, I’m 23 years old, one year into my acting hiatus after a traumatizing experience on set, and you’d see a completely devastated and lost young man with no direction.

If only he knew what was ahead of him.

Sure, I hit rock bottom more than once after that, but this was when I was at my lowest point.

It was 4 years until I entered back into the industry with a newfound love and appreciation for the craft. (or some would argue I RE-FOUND it)
Perhaps that trauma I experienced was for the better? It certainly humbled me. Shifted my perspective of what was important.

Even in this article there was a mistake in the print where the first paragraph was meant as a place holder until the finalized version was solidified. But I find it fitting. A reflection of my journey this far; the ups and downs. And now I treasure this magazine even more. Feels more… ME.

Thank you to every person I’ve met along the way and helped shape who I am today, without you… I wouldn’t have been able to find my way back. ❤️

Today @thebeardfilm screens at @hollyshorts and I couldn’t not take that as a sign to post some of these incredible BTS shots @kaidiaz captured.

This film meant a lot to me. Not only because of the message it carries, but because I got to pull double duty, acting in it AND having the honor of styling the cast.

This was the most people I had ever styled on a film set at the time — about 12 people — so the hustle was very much hustling. 😮‍💨 With the responsibility of a film carrying such a big message, I also wanted to be really intentional about every single piece of clothing each person got to wear.

I love subliminal messages, little details, and sneaking things into wardrobe that tell you something about a character without you even realizing it. And I’m really grateful to @kelseycorbin , who directed this film for being so open to my ideas and making the whole process feel genuinely collaborative. There was a lot of trust, a lot of “what if we did this?” and me being allowed to nerd out over the tiny details — which is basically my favorite place to be. Also, @mollykathrynflanagan for stepping in to assist with wardrobe on a day when I had more heavy lifting to do as an actor.

Video coming soon because obviously I have to talk about all of it.

Also have to shout out my friend @denny623 and his incredible wife - Briana at @d.and.b.studio, my character’s wardrobe came from their amazing vintage inventory. My character owns her own vintage shop, so what better way to honor that than to actually have her running around in vintage pieces herself?

Love a full circle moment.

🎬 Review : « Forbidden Eyes In The Dark » 🎭👁️🖤
On 📲 @my_drama_series

🇬🇧 POV: You move into your grandmother’s old manor… and someone is watching you… 🤫
Hands down one of my favorites on My Drama! Clara seeks a fresh start, only to discover a murder took place in the basement. Between a toxic ex-husband, an intrusive neighbor, and a mysterious masked man with an hypnotizing gaze, the pieces click together through non-stop twists. A dark, thrilling, and deeply intense romance you must watch! 🍿🖤

✨ Le casting / The Cast :

🇫🇷 @erictaylorguilmette (Mask Man/Leo) est magistral : tout passe par son regard magnétique et son charisme brut. L’alchimie avec @vanessaschwarzz (Clarisse), irréprochable et poignante, est littéralement incendiaire ! @wheat.anderson (Lance) est parfait en séducteur au double jeu, @alexringler (Gareth) excelle en ex-mari obsédé et toxique, et @oliviamcane (Paulette) fait une voisine devenue alliée redoutable. Un sans-faute ! 🌟👏

🇬🇧 Eric Guilmette (Mask Man/Leo) is breathtaking—his magnetic gaze and raw charisma say it all. His chemistry with Vanessa Von Schwarz (Clarisse), who delivers a flawless performance, is pure fire! Wyatt Anderson (Lance) nails the charming guy with a double game, Alex Ringler (Gareth) is brilliantly toxic as the ex-husband, and Olivia Cane (Paulette) shines as a fierce ally. Elite cast! 🌟👏

Meet the crate crew—

*Willow our super friendly, cuddly (Velcro cat) tabby boy, who is a churu aficionado. When he’s not supervising his siblings from a lap loves to play soccer, he’s Olympic ready Los Angeles! His number one sparing partner is his sister Mia, they will also share laps—they are adventure twins!

*Olivia our tabby girl, is a tripod but that doesn’t stop her—although still timid with humans she loves to play with her siblings and her favorite toys to play with are a wand toy and a ball tower. Watching her play is something special. She’s happy to chill with her siblings near you. Her go to playmate is her brother Cinders.

Some movies leave you wondering what happened. Forbidden Eyes in the Dark left me wondering whether one of its biggest storytelling choices actually made the movie stronger.

Clarissa is a struggling Hollywood actress who’s slowly realizing talent isn’t enough if she refuses to “play the game.” When she’s forced to move into her late grandmother’s abandoned home, a place tied to blacklisting, mysterious deaths, and long-buried secrets, she finds herself caught between reality, conspiracy, and the supernatural.

What follows is part haunted house mystery, part Hollywood conspiracy thriller, and part dark romance. In other words…this movie throws a lot at you. Surprisingly, it mostly sticks the landing.

The mystery kept me invested. I guessed several of the larger twists pretty early (occupational hazard at this point), but there were still enough surprises to keep me smiling. More importantly, despite juggling ghosts, séances, secret societies, suspicious handymen, complicated family history, and more than one person you probably shouldn’t trust…I never felt lost.

Where the movie really got me thinking, though, was Leo…aka…the masked man. Leo enters the story with a very dominant “you’ll obey me” mentality. It’s clearly playing in the BookTok dark romance sandbox, and I understood exactly what it was trying to do.

I’m just not entirely convinced it was the strongest choice for this story. One of the movie’s biggest themes is agency. And everyone wants a piece of Clarissa. Her agent wants her career. The secret society wants her compliance. Her husband refuses to sign the divorce papers, even after getting another woman pregnant, because he still wants control over her future.

And Leo?

His motives are different. He genuinely wants to protect her. But he also manipulates her, withholds information, and demands obedience because he believes he knows what’s best. Even his mission is ultimately tied to clearing his own family’s past.

That’s what fascinated me. What if saving Clarissa had meant freeing her?

SLIDE LEFT FOR MORE

What if, instead of becoming another person asking something from her, Leo had become the first person who simply wanted something for

Forbidden Eyes in the Dark

When struggling actress Clarissa Drake (@vanessavonschwarz) returns to her late grandmother's estate, she uncovers hidden Hollywood secrets, a masked stranger, and a mystery where no one can be trusted.

✨ My Thoughts
Forbidden Eyes in the Dark blends dark romance, psychological thriller, horror, and secret societies into something refreshingly different from the typical vertical drama.

@erictaylorguilmette delivers the series' most captivating performance. His character is unsettling, magnetic, and impossible to fully read. Even with most of his face hidden behind a bandana, he conveys an incredible amount through his eyes alone, making every scene tense and unpredictable. The mystery surrounding Leo is one of the series' biggest strengths, constantly leaving you questioning where his true loyalties lie.

Vanessa delivers a convincing performance as Clarissa, balancing vulnerability with determination as she pieces together the truth while refusing to let fear define her.

Handyman Lance (@Wheat.Anderson) is a constant source of suspicion, always leaving you wondering what he's hiding, while Clarissa's manipulative ex-husband Gareth Drake (@AlexRingler) is exactly the kind of character you'll love to hate.

Mr. and Mrs. Drake (@TedWellsinspires) (@MaudeBonanni) deepen the mystery surrounding the family, while Liliana (@AndreaGeones), Ellie (@mmm.isabel), and Paulette (@OliviamCane) each add another piece to the puzzle.

The dark atmosphere, cinematic visuals, and mystery surrounding Leo keep the story engaging from beginning to end. Some character arcs could have benefited from more room to breathe, allowing the psychological elements and emotional impact to reach even greater depth.
