My third column, “Stores, Städte, Trends”, is published in INSIDER, the magazine of the German Association for Shopfitting. This time, I take a closer look at how new concepts are transforming the fragrance retail market: from the growing appeal of niche perfumery and the importance of individuality to the role of local identity and AI-driven personalisation. Today, perfume is much more than a beautifully designed bottle. It is an expression of personality, emotion and individual taste. This shift is also changing the physical retail experience. Modern perfumeries are becoming immersive spaces where architecture, materials, craftsmanship and storytelling create an atmosphere that invites customers to explore, discover and stay. Brands such as Le Labo demonstrate how an international brand can maintain its identity while integrating local architecture and culture into its stores. Meanwhile, concepts such as Every Human’s AlgorithmicPerfumery show how AI can enhance the sensory experience by allowing customers to create their own personalised fragrances. ➡️ The key takeaway? The future of perfumery is not just about selling a fragrance. It is about creating meaningful experiences that engage the senses, express individuality and build lasting relationships with customers. Thank you Angela Krause and the entire team of the Deutscher Ladenbau Verband (dLv) for the opportunity to share my perspective on the evolving world of retail. I look forward to exploring more cities, trends and retail concepts in my next columns. #RetailDesign #RetailTrends #FragranceRetail #CustomerExperience #HolisticRetailDesign #RetailInnovation Photos of the following Stores in Vienna I Austria: Osmotheca, Cosmotheca, The House of Naxos

Algorithmic Perfumery by EveryHuman is an AI-guided scent creation platform where you answer a detailed questionnaire and a digital perfumer builds personalized fragrance formulas from your answers. Here is a closer look at how the technology works and who is behind it. What is algorithmic perfumery? It pairs a questionnaire about your memories, preferences, and personality with software that selects and balances perfumery materials, then a machine compounds the result on the spot. The software draws from an ingredient palette that Anahita Mekanik designed, so the creative foundation comes from a trained nose. Who makes it? ScenTronix, a Dutch company based in Breda, Netherlands, founded in 2018 by artist-technologist Frederik Duerinck and scent designer Anahita Mekanik. The idea began as an art installation, and the palette was developed in partnership with IFF. EveryHuman is the consumer brand, and Algorithmic Perfumery is the experience. Where can you try it? Machines have been set up in Copenhagen, at the Museum of the Future in Dubai, at The Fragrance Shop in London, and in the Southeastern US through INDIEHOUSE at Phipps Plaza in Atlanta and in Alpharetta, Georgia. You can also start online at everyhuman.com, where you will find a library of in-house scents and scent coach sessions to talk through your formula. Other AI fragrance projects include Philyra from IBM Research and Symrise, so this is a growing corner of personalized perfume, custom fragrance, and fragrance technology. @algorithmicperfumery @every.human @indiehousefragrances #perfume #fragrance #customperfume #perfumetech

EveryHuman: When AI Becomes Your Perfumer | Raison d’Être NYC (Nov 14, 2026) Every partner at Raison d’Être was chosen for a specific sense. @every.human @algorithmicperfumery · Scent. Taste. Touch. Sight. Sound. Space. Time. System. New York City · November 14, 2026. Share & repost this to follow along as the rest are revealed. — An Ode to EveryHuman What drew us to EveryHuman is how it makes fragrance creation accessible through technology. A conversation with AI becomes a formula, and a formula becomes something you can smell, wear, and modify. We are especially interested in the relationship between algorithms and personal taste. Can a system translate something as subjective as identity into a scent? And what happens when the resulting fragrance doesn’t match what you expected to like? EveryHuman makes those questions tangible. Its approach turns fragrance into a process of experimentation, where each adjustment offers another opportunity to understand your preferences. For Ode, the most interesting role of technology isn’t simply predicting what we like. It’s giving us new ways to discover what we might like.

One of my favorite things about traveling is wandering around, looking up at beautiful buildings, stopping every few minutes to take pictures and getting excited over the smallest details. 🤎 And Vienna gave me plenty of reasons to do exactly that! From admiring the incredible St. Stephen’s Cathedral to exploring the charming streets around it, I could barely put my camera down. But the most unexpected highlight of the day? We actually got to create our own perfumes! ✨ Choosing the notes, experimenting with different scents and ending up with something completely personal was such a special experience. I’ve always loved the way fragrances can bring back memories, so the thought of having a scent that will forever remind me of Vienna makes me ridiculously happy. Beautiful architecture, a little creativity and a perfume with a story of its own. I’d say that’s a pretty perfect day. 🥹🤎 📍 Vienna, Austria 🇦🇹

What if you could describe a memory, a feeling, or even a person, and AI could turn it into a perfume? @algorithmicperfumery At Beautyworld Middle East 2026, I came across New Human and their concept of Algorithmic Perfumery, and it genuinely made me curious about where the fragrance industry is heading. The idea is fascinating. You give the system a prompt, it interprets your words into a fragrance formula, and you can experience a scent created around your imagination. Don’t like something? Tweak it. Want to keep it? Save your formula and reorder your personal fragrance. I also met Anahita, who kindly walked me through the process and explained how the technology works. What interests me most isn’t just the convenience of creating a customised perfume. It’s the bigger question of what happens when technology enters an industry built on artistry, intuition, memory and the human nose. Can AI become a creative partner to perfumers, or are we slowly moving towards replacing the very artistry that makes perfumery special? You can experience New Human’s concept at Dubai’s Museum of the Future. I’d love to know what you think. Would you let AI create your signature scent? #AlgorithmicPerfumery #NewHuman #BeautyworldMiddleEast #AIPerfumery #FutureOfFragrance ScentedQa

What if we told you it was possible to have a quality, tailor-made fragrance crafted to your preferences, in minutes? It sounded impossible until we discovered the @every.human exhibit at @beautyworlddxb. EveryHuman’s @algorithmicperfumery offers something truly unique: an AI-powered installation that bridges art, science, and technology. The concept is simple; the technology isn’t. Visitors scan a QR code to access an AI-guided scent-creation platform. Here’s where you get to be creative. You start your scent journey by answering a few questions and telling the bot about the type of fragrance you want. You can go as in-depth as you want, citing emotions, places, memories, or items that inspire your personalised fragrance. Not too sure what you’re after? The platform offers plenty of guidance and a fragrance library featuring completed scent profiles, if you need it. Once you’ve completed your AI chat, the platform generates your unique fragrance composition, featuring a complete breakdown of the various fragrance notes. Not sure about it? Continue your chat to further refine the composition. Love it? With the tap of a button, production begins! Your scent is created within minutes, and labelled with a unique name and code, which you can use to reorder your fragrance when it runs out. Our editor created Golden Tide, a warm tropical fragrance comprising notes of sea salt, coconut, jasmine and vanilla. The experience is absolutely incredible and ultra-satisfying, plus, it allows for endless creativity. Algorithmic Perfumery installations can be found in various locations around the world, but you can also create your scent online at www.everyhuman.com and have it delivered to your address. Thanks Beautyworld Dubai for introducing us to this magnificent concept – it was one of the highlights of our Beautyworld experience. #BeautyworldDubai #BeautyworldDXB #30YearsofBeauty #EveryHuman #AlgorithmicPerfumery

An algorithm created perfumes just for me. In Vienna. A questionnaire. 50 essences. Three scents built entirely around who I am — I named each one myself. We did the same for Manuel. Fifteen years of never finding “his” scent. The machine found it in one try. This is what happens when a system actually knows you. . . . style system · intentional wardrobe · minimalist style · personal style tips · slow fashion · style inspiration · intentional living · perfume · signature scent · Vienna · algorithmic perfume · personalized fragrance · mindful beauty
