Thank you to this lovely group of creative people who joined me for the August Green Sketch Circle in Fota!

We had plenty of interesting plants to skectch! As always Ali’s exercises were so much fun to bring to life to support the experience of observing and being less focused on outcome. If you want to know more send me a dm. I will have more dates in the Autumn! 🍁

Spring Green Sketching Session in Whitewebbs Park 🌱🖼

We are so excited to announce that artist Sharon Drew will be hosting another free Green Sketching Session with us in Whitewebbs Park on Saturday, 25th April 2026, from 11:00AM-12:30PM. Our last three sessions together were truly wonderful experiences - you can watch the highlights videos and see the poster of these on our Instagram (scroll back to November 2024 and April and November 2025 - https://www.instagram.com/p/DCe6LOQtT7b/ ; https://www.instagram.com/p/DIHjBVLCBMT/ ; and https://www.instagram.com/p/DQ7TImxDOYD/). 🥰

These sessions are a way of celebrating the wonder of Whitewebbs. This different approach to art is all about the connection with nature, using experimental drawing techniques. 🖌✍️ We will sit under the majestic redwoods like last time, which are not far from the Café (directions below). 🌲

🎫 Please book your FREE tickets via the link in our bio (there are only a limited number).

ℹ️ What is "Green Sketching"? Find out more: https://www.theguardian.com/travel/2020/nov/04/drawing-trip-sketching-in-lockdown-epping-forest-london and watch Ali Foxon's TED Talk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMuZjg7l7Wg

The event is suitable for adults and children, complete beginners and those with experience. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Materials will be provided. Sessions will run whatever the weather - appropriate clothing and footwear is recommended. ☀️

We look forward to seeing you there! 🙌💚

🗺️ Directions: we have noticed that Google Maps can take you on a much longer route than is necessary. Please, especially when coming by public transport, enter your destination as "Beggars Hollow, Enfield, EN2 9JN". This short road will take you to Whitewebbs Café, where this event will start. This means that you can take the most direct route. 📍

Art. Peat. People.

We’re proud to host this very special @yorkshirepeatpartnership_ art installation at the Nethergill Farm Nature Barn.

The exhibition brings together artists, communities and researchers to explore the story of peatlands — the landscapes that quietly hold vast amounts of carbon, shape our uplands, and support incredible biodiversity across the @yorkshiredales.

Through art, the project invites us to see peat differently. Not just as ground beneath our feet, but as a living archive of culture and landscape.

The exhibition is open throughout spring and summer directly on the Dales Way. So whether you're passing through on a long walk, exploring the Dales, or making a special trip, you’re very welcome to drop in and take a look.

Slow down, step inside, and see the uplands through a new lens.

On Thursday I met up with the Art of Exploration Collective at the Royal Geographical Society in London. It was so nice to meet up, exchange stories and see and hear about latest works and projects in person. Apologies to individuals for their not very accurate likenesses(!) I defo still need to practice drawing people live. I wanted to capture the venerable feel of the room and building. We got a sneaky preview of the GeoArtBioblitz exhibition which is is on display this weekend at the Explore Festival and then I had to dash off to catch a train home. Thank you to Roseann @roseannhanson for the invite and for organising and sharing 😍 Much appreciated.

Did you know that today, October 10th, is World Mental Health Day? What, if anything, are you doing today to look after your own mental health? Comment below as I’d love to hear what helps you.

Nature, our home, is what helps me, whether I’m out for a walk with the dogs, standing barefoot on the grass, working in the garden with my hands in the soil, sitting listening to the birds singing and the bees buzzing, or out leading a Green Sketching workshop. Being outdoors is so important for us all, so even if you just have a few minutes today, take yourself outside and enjoy the sights and sounds around you. Doodle what you see that sparks joy in you. It doesn’t have to be a masterpiece. It’s the process that counts, not the finished drawing. If you wish, take a photo of where you are and post it, tag me and use #GreenSketchingIreland. It would be lovely to see where you’re finding some joy today, and in so doing helping to protect your own mental health. Have a lovely day. 💚

We all have mental health needs!

Some are complex and very serious, some include not feeling quite right. Whatever challenges we all have there are proactive ways of supporting our individual mental wellbeing needs.

For me it’s drawing, being outside in nature and hiking.

Even the process of choosing a spot to sit, getting my materials out and pawing over the view before I start a drawing is mindful.

What’s your go to when supporting your mental wellbeing?

I would love to know. Sharing your ideas might just be that tip someone needs.

I would love to know your thoughts ⤵️
