PART 1 - Before raising 3 humans - I had the incredible privilege of working alongside Wildlife Rehabilitator Karen Trendler - ARC/Wildcare...💚

At the time Karen’s work with rhinos was groundbreaking. She was among the first to successfully foster and raise white and black rhinos, and then release them.

During my time at Wildcare we hand reared Wild Dog Pups, Cheetahs, Rhinos, Elephants, caracals with the goal of always getting them back into the wild. …. We helped all wild animals and birds except for lions.

Was so lucky to learn from the best.

That’s a wrap on our South African adventure. 🇿🇦

Driving into Kruger and finding two cheetah brothers and a black rhino on the very same game drive pretty much set the tone for the rest of the trip. From there it was all early mornings, conservation, good people, and memories we’ll be talking about for a long time. 🥹

The best guests, two very happy hearts, and another trip well done. 🧡

The best way to spend World Conservation Day? Standing alongside the people fighting every day to protect the wild. 🐆

Over the past three days, we’ve witnessed conservation in its truest form. On the ground with the vets, researchers, reserve teams and conservationists who quietly make moments like these possible.

Our group had the privilege of sponsoring $4,000 towards microchipping this beautiful rhino, an experience filled with awe, gratitude and more emotion than words can describe.

A special thank you to @the_metapopulation_initiative, whose science-led work is helping secure the future of cheetahs by connecting fragmented populations, protecting genetic diversity and giving these incredible cats a better chance at survival. It’s inspiring to witness what can be achieved when conservation is driven by collaboration.

And to the unsung heroes - the wildlife vets & students, reserve managers, researchers, field teams and everyone working tirelessly behind the scenes, thank you. Conservation is built on countless early mornings, difficult decisions and unwavering dedication that so few people ever get to see.

This is what our expeditions are all about. Not only witnessing wildlife, but contributing to its future.

Happy World Conservation Day. 🌍🦏🐆

🌍 Destination Insights: Kapstadt

✨ Weihnachten in Kapstadt 🎄🌍

The world mourns the passing of Dr. Jane Goodall, a hero to many. 💚

Jane Goodall transformed our understanding of chimpanzees and by extension, ourselves. Her pioneering fieldwork at Gombe Stream National Park in Tanzania showed that chimpanzees make and use tools, have complex social lives, form lasting bonds, and feel emotions - findings that challenged longstanding beliefs about what makes humans unique.

Beyond science, she was a powerful advocate for conservation, animal welfare, and environmental education. She founded the Jane Goodall Institute, launched the Roots & Shoots youth programme, and used her voice to urge humanity to act more kindly toward animals and protect their habitats. @alipaulus & @leahbellleask were lucky enough to have met Jane last year, a truly unforgettable experience shared together ✨

‘Her legacy is one of immense compassion, curiosity, courage, and hope - showing us that listening deeply to nature can teach us not just about the world, but about our responsibility to care for it. I’ll never forget the honor of seeing her in person - a true hero of mine.’ -@leahbellleask

Rest in peace, Dr. Goodall. 🦧
