Dance class is the time for exploration. Where mistakes are allowed and learned. As an educator, I never expect young dance artists in training to have a “perfect class” or pick up the choreography (especially not mine) down to every detail right away, in one hour. I look for the the in-between moments, the nuances and elements of individuality that adds layers to my choreography. Specifically, choosing to approach the choreography a bit differently by adding their own flare and style while keeping the integrity of the choreography and technique. I want dancers to persuade observers, focus on the transitions and the emotional impact. While I am not against it, I don’t always expect a super clean and aesthetically pleasing routine at the end of a class or in general. But instead I expect effort towards trying something new and challenging while keeping the audience engaged. Class is a moment to practice purposeful action, storytelling and choices. So I believe mistakes are a must in class to be fully honest as an artist, prepared and present for the performance. Thank you @uncsa_summer_dance for the most amazing month this summer! I will always remember the incredible warmth, positivity, and support exchanged between every teacher and peer. It was a blessing to have shared the studios and the stage with such kind and talented people. Will forever cherish all the dandelions I held at UNSCA SI 26’ 🤌🌱💛

Four weeks @uncsa_summer_dance have gone by in a flash.

Thank you to the teachers and fellow dancers who have made this month truly incredible. I am so grateful that I had danced with a cohort of such talented and kind souls.

I feel especially honored to have performed in
@sjobrett90 ‘s piece, “Tiamat”, and @weswill69 ‘s piece,
“The Magical Bantaba.” The creative processes have inspired me beyond measure. Thank you for believing in my movement.

How do I even start. BODYTRAFFIC has impacted so many lives and I am incredibly lucky to have been one of them. BODYTRAFFIC has become a home to me over the past two summers. A place where I am unapologetically myself. I am so grateful and proud to call myself a small part of this beautiful family. This company has given me the most meaningful connections I’ve ever had and I will cherish them forever.

Feeling so lucky for the past week I got to spend with @bodytraffic. The past two summers with them have completely changed me as a dancer and I’m leaving the last intensive feeling so grateful. Thank you to @julieopiel for always supporting me and giving me the best advice.
