What a great weekend that was in Cornwall and a bucket list item ticked off by running from Penzance to St Ives. The first day was incredibly tough in what felt like 50mph winds for much of the day but the second was much calmer and meant I could enjoy the amazing scenery much more. Thanks to @astynan for driving me around and for keeping me company during my downtime. Only one big training weekend to go before the big ultramarathon itself and that’ll be a gruelling 50 miles over a weekend. If you’d like to learn more about the event and to donate to the great cause we are raising money for, please follow the link in my bio.

1 year on and after another week of sunshine, it’s raining again 😂. Happy anniversary to my beautiful wife @lucit 😘. What a year it has been!

After a couple of weeks in Borneo, we have really enjoyed our stay in Singapore. It was originally intended as a good stopover spot to get to Laos without doing connecting flights, but it has ended up being one of our favourite places! We have spent a lot of time in Chinatown where we stayed, as well as Little India where we have been dining at many of the Hawker Market Stalls (one of which had Michelin * until last year!) in addition to visiting a few temples and shrines. We also did an amazing private tour of Fort Canning and the Battlebox where the British Commanders were based shortly before the disastrous surrender to the Japanese in 1942 - “the worst disaster and largest capitulation in British military history” as Winston Churchill once said. Our tour guide (pictured) was so knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. Finally, we visited the Gardens By the Bay and enjoyed the tree canopy walk.

Our final trip on Sabah was an expedition up to the top of Mt Kinabalu standing stall at 4095m. We started our climb at just over 1800m and we climbed up to our hut at 3200m where we spent the night. We were up bright and early to depart for the summit at 2.30am under torchlight and we reached the top 2.5 hours later in time for sunrise. After enjoying the amazing views in freezing cold conditions, we descended back to the bottom. Our legs are still recovering 2 days on!

This was a few days ago at Mount Koya and was one of the highlights of the trip so far. Away from the tourists, we stayed at a peaceful Buddhist temple and ate veggie food, attended morning prayer (at 6.30am 😴) and did some lovely walking in the area on some of the pilgrim paths.

We have had an action packed few days in Seoul visiting the Changdeokgong Palace Secret Gardens and local food markets on our first day. We then headed to the DMZ yesterday and went inside one of the tunnels N Korea built back in the 70s (no camera allowed here). Finally, we hiked up to the highest peak in a National Park right next to the city, with great views of Seoul. We are heading to Gangnam tonight for fried chicken & beer and to another market in the morning before we fly to Tokyo! Food post to follow...

Great to squeeze in a 10km race with Luci around the beautiful Lake Hayes near Queenstown!

Just returned from walking the Kepler Track over 4 days - the best hike of that length I’ve ever done! It had everything - epic mountain walking, pristine streams to fill up your water canteen, abundant native bird life, lush forests and stunning lakeside beaches. We won’t be forgetting this in a hurry!

After our hike in the Abel Tasman, we travelled down to Wanaka via Lakes Tekapo and Pukaki. Once there, we hiked up to the top of Roys Peak where we were rewarded with some amazing views 😀.

It’s great to be back in NZ after almost 8 years and we have started off with a bang by doing a 3 day/2 night hike along the Abel Tasman Coast Track - it’s such a beautiful place and we were very lucky with the weather (although I think it’s always sunny in these parts!).

Having a great first week of our trip... Been for runs to our local lookout point, walked to the highest point in the city and even visited the famous Painted Ladies in the cool Hayes Valley area. And of course, we have been eating and drinking some of our favourite things too - Luci even had a coffee made for her by a robot 😀.
