POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Flame Tower by Altamash Javed (@aljvd) is now available as part of GPP Editions.

Each summer, Dubai is transformed as the Royal Poinciana, or flame tree, bursts into bloom, covering roads and neighbourhoods in vivid red for just a few fleeting weeks. Known as Flame Tree Season (@flametreeseason), the annual spectacle has become a moment photographers eagerly anticipate across the city.

Commissioned to document this short-lived season, Altamash Javed created a series that pairs the fiery blossoms with Dubai's unmistakable urban landscape. Captured with the @fujifilmme FUJIFILM X-H2 and XF70-300mmF4-5.6 R LM OIS WR, Flame Tower frames one of the city's most iconic skylines through the colours of summer.

"I always notice this tree in the summer. One fine morning I just shot a tree with my phone, posted it on my stories, and before I knew it I was commissioned to shoot this tree all over Dubai."

Altamash Javed's work is also on view at the inaugural Made You Look! exhibition at Gulf Photo Plus, featuring UAE-based @fujifilmme X-Photographers and Creators whose images make you pause, reflect, and rediscover the beauty of the moment.

The UAE is a nation that understands the meaning of resilience.
We face challenges with calm minds and unwavering confidence, because our strength lies in our unity and our belief in this country.
And the UAE will remain standing tall, no matter the circumstances. 🇦🇪
