What a summer it’s been. Thank you God for the experience. Thank you to all my friends and family along the way. I love you all. Now it’s time to settle in, reflect, and keep it moving forward. The last slide is a visual representation of me right now after being a nomad without a home :)

Alliance of Women Directors is thrilled to reveal the incredible mentors guiding the 2026 Rising Director Fellowship cohort.

This year’s directing mentors include Zach Cregger, Issa López, Jay Duplass, Andrew Ahn, Valerie Faris, and Josephine Decker. And for the first time in the fellowship’s history, fellows will also be paired with producing mentors: Barbara Muschietti, Emily V. Gordon, Win Rosenfeld, Andrea Sperling, Julia Hammer, and Tony Yang.

By bringing both directors and producers into the mentorship experience, AWD is expanding the support, perspective, and industry access available to our fellows as they take the next step in their careers.

Congratulations to our 2026 fellows, and thank you to these remarkable filmmakers for investing in the next generation of storytellers. 🎬✨

There’s something special about sitting in a room full of women who are ready to make their first feature film — and being able to remind ourselves *we have done it, here is what we were thinking — and here is how we pulled it off.*

So grateful to the Alliance of Women Directors @awd_directors for having me alongside star directors @livinewman and @tinamabry speaking with the brilliant @sarahrodmanwords for the Back to Set panel. We talked first features — the spark, the passion, and the lessons we took with us.

Last October I attended Bend Basecamp, a four-day filmmaker retreat outside of Bend, OR, and it shifted something for me. Pitch development workshops, panels, one-on-one mentorship, screenings, and feedback from leading writers, directors, managers, and producers in the industry. I came away with a clearer sense of the HAINT feature film and an incredible community of filmmakers. Caldera was fun, peaceful and I stayed in the coolest A frame cabin! I’m super grateful for this experience and our generous mentors: Effie Brown @iamfuriousblack , Cullen Conly, Heidi Ewing @heidiewing , Max Geschwind @maxgeschwind , Whitaker Lader @whitlader, Bing Liu, Peter Nicks @petenicks , Mary Jane Skalski, Guinevere Turner, Brian Kendig, and John Cooper!

If you’re an early to mid-career filmmaker with a narrative or doc project you’re trying to develop, apply! Applications for the 2026 program (Oct 4–8) are open until June 14 at bendfilm.org. Limited scholarships are also available! ✨

I also had the best time screening Hatchlings short at @bendfilmfestival and hanging out at the last BLOCKBUSTER still in existence! Submissions for Bend FF close on 5/22! That’s in two days! Go for it!

Shout out to bend basecamp’s dream team John Cooper, @claymarshallpruitt Giancarlo Gatto and @emma_kaisner !

Find Your Vista Story:

In the 12th year of Vista’s Leadership Advisory Board Fellowship, we continue finding new ways to coach and empower participants to discover and refine their Vista story- equipping them to confidently share their journey as they grow as leaders supporting Vista kids.

“Using your authentic voice is the most impactful way to engage people and help them learn about Vista and the incredible work being done,” said Darren Rose, Partner and Managing Director of @therosegroupla, a Los Angeles branding and public relations firm, during our recent media training workshop.

Throughout the day, Vista Fellows worked closely with Darren and Vista’s Director of Leadership Development, Naomi Salamon, learning how to craft their personal stories, make them authentic, and deliver them effectively across a variety of settings and platforms. A special thank you to @junkfilms for creating a “press junket”-style environment where Fellows were able to film and present their final pieces with confidence and professionalism. #LAB #mediatraining #futureleaders #philanthropist #communityimpact

Back at Scripps for a dual 10 year reunion (how did that happen so fast?!?) and school centennial celebration — somehow older, hopefully wiser, and even more in awe of this place and these women 🌿✨
