Age is merely a number when passion and purpose keep you youthful! Our ever-energetic Board Member, Diana Alli D’Souza, @allidsouza, O.Ont., continues to inspire at 75 through lifelong learning, leadership and community engagement! On October 21, Diana attended the University of Toronto’s prestigious President’s Circle Fall Lecture at Hart House, chaired by Dr. Wendy M. Cecil. The featured speaker, Professor Karen Kubey of the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design, explored “More Than a Law: How Architecture Shapes the Right to Housing,” a subject close to Diana’s lifelong commitment to social justice and human dignity. The evening also provided opportunities to connect with senior staff from the University’s Division of University Advancement, which champions alumni engagement and the ambitious Defy Gravity fundraising campaign, alongside academics and emerging scholars. My Mama Diana! ❤️ This weekend,my girls Ada @womenincanadaei Vivi @amumandmoreng Tracey and I showed up for one very special woman — Diana Alli D’Souza @allidsouza ,as she received the prestigious Nelson Mandela Humanitarian Award at the 2026 Afroglobal Television Excellence Awards. 🏆✨ At 75 years young, with decades of service, 38 years at the University of Toronto and the Order of Ontario among her many achievements, Diana continues to amaze me. She’s always out there, attending events, supporting communities, mentoring others, making connections, and showing up for people with the same passion and energy. Seriously, where does she get all that energy from? 🥹❤️ She inspires me every single day. A beautiful reminder that age doesn’t define us, and a life filled with purpose never stops growing. Watching her receive this honour was so special, and seeing her dedicate it to our beloved Maryam made it even more meaningful. 🕊️❤️ And my girls! What a beautiful time we had together! The laughter, hugs, interviews, wonderful people we met, new connections, and all those little moments in between made the evening even more memorable. ✨ CELEBRATING 75 YEARS OF A LIFE OF SERVICE, LEADERSHIP & IMPACT ✨ Today, we celebrate an extraordinary woman, mentor, advocate and community leader — @allidsouza , as she marks her 75th birthday. 🎉❤️ Diana is a woman whose life has been defined not simply by achievement, but by service to people. For decades, she has dedicated herself to education, mentorship, community development, equity and creating opportunities for people who are often underrepresented and underserved. Her remarkable career at the University of Toronto, spanning 38 years, included senior leadership and advocacy roles, and she became a respected voice for students, staff and the wider community. (Diana Alli) Her contributions have been recognized through numerous honours, including the Order of Ontario, the University of Toronto Chancellor’s Award, the Healthy U of T Award, and multiple community recognitions. She has also been involved in the creation and facilitation of numerous outreach and mentorship initiatives supporting young people, women, seniors, students and other underserved communities. Yesterday was one of those evenings that reminded me of the beauty of community, culture and connection. ❤️🇨🇦 I had the privilege of attending the 89th birthday celebration of the Honourable Jean Augustine at Harbourfront Centre, alongside an incredible community of Black Canadians from across the Caribbean and beyond. From celebrating the remarkable legacy of Jean Augustine to experiencing Queen of Soca and seeing so many familiar cultural elements reflected on screen, it was such a beautiful reminder that although our roots may come from different countries, there is so much that connects us as people. 🌍❤️ The laughter, the music, the conversations, the fashion, the energy and, of course, the after-party made it such a memorable night. ✨ A special thank you to @allidsouza for the invitation and for making sure I was part of such a beautiful evening. ❤️ It was truly an honour and a pleasure. From Nigeria to the Heart of Canada’s Federal Government 🇳🇬🇨🇦 What an honour it was to meet and take a picture with The Honourable @shafqatalimp , P.C., M.P., President of the Treasury Board of Canada and Member of Parliament for Brampton—Chinguacousy Park, at the Flavours of Nigeria Festival. There was something particularly meaningful about this moment. Here we were, at a celebration of Nigerian culture, heritage, food, music and community, while standing alongside someone who holds one of the most significant positions in Canada’s federal government. As President of the Treasury Board, Hon. Shafqat Ali plays an important role in areas including government spending, public-service management, human resources, technology, accessibility, inclusion and the effective management of federal government operations. His journey and public service are also a reminder of what is possible when immigrants build lives, communities and legacies in Canada. For me, this moment represents more than a photograph. It represents connection. Representation. Community. And the beautiful possibilities that exist when people from different backgrounds come together to build a stronger Canada. As someone who is passionate about empowering women, building communities and creating opportunities for immigrants to thrive, I never take these moments for granted. And meeting leaders like Hon. Shafqat Ali at an event celebrating Nigeria makes it even more special. Our cultures may come from different places, but our contributions are helping shape the Canada we all call home. 🇳🇬❤️🇨🇦 Thank you, Hon.
