Ten years ago, I thought I knew exactly what ThistleBEA would become. In some ways, I was right. In a lot of the ways that matter, I was very, very wrong. I am still completely obsessed with weddings. But now that hyperfixation comes with the respect of my tenure. After hundreds of weddings, I have a much better understanding of what couples actually need, and I still fundamentally believe that they deserve to be taken care of on their wedding day. I am still blown away that people choose us for such an important day. But now, one of the greatest honours is being recommended by our couples to their friends and family. Getting to do your sibling's wedding because we did yours? That will never stop being cool. But ThistleBEA has never really been just about me. Winnie is where this team started. When I told her I was thinking about starting ThistleBEA, she elbowed her way in without me even asking. Without her, ThistleBEA would be me, myself, and I. Ashley joined us in 2022, when I didn't yet realize just how underwater I was trying to run a business and raise two young kids. Her "10 hours a week, max" role somehow became me employing a mom almost full-time, and she is so often mistaken for my boss that I have to admit I'm usually the one making that mistake. Rosalie took over Hello, Goodbye in 2023 and turned a side project into a self-sufficient division that is now a huge part of what we offer. Sonaiya's love of florals started our floral division and opened up so many opportunities that I never could have imagined. And then there is Adrienne, Jen, Jane, Julia, Camilla, Karen, Lisa, Kim, Annie, Amber, and everyone who has been part of this team along the way. You have carried chairs, solved problems, wrangled timelines, made flowers, loaded vans, calmed people down, and helped make ThistleBEA what it is. And Jim. Literally none of this exists without him. His encouragement, support, blind trust, penchant for buying domain names, and kindness gave ThistleBEA the chance to become anything at all. Ten years later, I still don't know exactly what ThistleBEA will become. But I know I am incredibly greatful for every person who has touched ThistleBEA along the way.

You have been looking for jewellery that gives you butterflies. Pieces that show that real beauty doesn’t announce itself, it is in its subtle shine, its inner glow, its innate value. It is… A R T W I T H O U T A P O L O G Y Every piece I make begins the way a painting does, with a feeling not the stones. The Jadesola earrings are an ode to imperfect perfection. Baroque pearls, no two alike, never the same, shimmering on gold wire. No pretence, no additions or extravagance, just pure organic luxury. Their irregularity is not a flaw, it is the point. The Mofeyisayo was my rebellious piece. Instead of one strand of pearls on silk, I added a second. Not a smaller inner collar around the neck as expected, but outside the traditional strand. Not on silk but linked by gold wire. Not round or potato pearls but delicate rice like pearls. A quiet rebellion that only the discerning eye notices. Two pieces, two different conversations but a synergy that highlights what jewellery can be when it begins as art. THE DEVOTION COLLECTION. Limited edition of seven. Each piece is available by private enquiry. With love, Funto Curation and photography by @allisontaylorcreative

This is a quick PSA for my 2027 wedding season peeps out there - more specifically, if you’ve chosen July 17 2027 as your date for next year: Damn is this date popular. I don’t think I’ve ever turned down so many inquiries for the same date before. Secure your vendors guys 👀 Happy planning! #bcweddingphotographer #vancouverweddingphotographer #yvrphotographer

Two posts in two days, who is she? But more importantly ~ I have seen dance floors start with a group photo, a flash mob (tbt), all married couples being asked to the floor, but this was a first (and very effective). Imagine this: after over a year of planning, you have made it to your wedding day. It didn’t rain, you’re now legally wifey, and you’re just trying to remember the steps to your choreographed first dance when the song that starts playing sounds a little different. And you realize it’s because your brand new husband conspired with your dj ( @gumjie ) to record himself singing your first dance song. What a moment, what a husband 🤍✨ #yvrphotographer #bcweddingphotographer #vancouverweddingphotographer
