Settling in after two amazing weeks in Indonesia and have had an opportunity to reflect on the experience. Traveling inspires me; it gives me purpose. It’s my greatest passion in life and what makes me feel most alive. BUT, every time I travel, it’s the people that truly fill my cup up (both literally & figuratively lmao). Traveling has a funny way of bringing the most incredible humans into your life - in the most unexpected way - and cementing them in your world as friends. So, this post is to commemorate the faces (new & old) who made my time in Indonesia so special the past few weeks. I’m grateful for each of you and can’t wait for our paths to cross again 🤞🏼🤍

2 weeks in Indonesia and these are just a small fraction of the incredible things I saw. This sounds dramatic but it really was a trip that changed me and I might have come back questioning my own place in the world and outlook on things. Would love to go back and continue to explore even though it takes absolutely forever to get there. This was a spontaneous opportunity that came about from our local dive instructors who brought us out to watch the fights. It’s local to Lombok and only happens twice a year for a couple days. It was one of the most unique things to witness and insane tradition. These guys were surprisingly chill. This is a sight that is so foreign to see but is every day life in Indonesia. Locals regularly burn their trash outside their homes, sometimes in their gutter, sometimes in their yard or fields. Found Nemo but no dory. Saw around 5 pit vipers with one of them being a yellow pit viper. No cobras thought. You pick your shrimp, they cook it and you eat it. Island locals and also food for the Komodo dragons. You can’t see all the waterfalls in this shot but this was I think the most magical waterfalls I’ve been to. Creepy crawly.

OCEAN DANCE RETREAT | Dahab (Oct 21-26) “We enter the water to listen what she has to tell” What happens when freediving and dance meet? Underwater Dance is an emerging art form where breath hold, buoyancy and movement become one. Gravity disappears, water holds us and we discover new ways of expression. This retreat is not about becoming a dancer, performing or taking beautiful pictures. We will try to enter the water with curiosity, allowing the ocean to be our advisor and shape our movements, thoughts and intentions. When we dance, our consciousness shifts. When we freedive, our physiology changes. When these two worlds meet, something extraordinary happens. During four immersive days we will progressively explore the foundations of underwater dance through breath, movement, improvisation and play. We move slowly, safely and honestly, giving space for beauty to emerge naturally. In the Ocean, not a location, but a living entity. Knotty Friday is tomorrow ;) I want you to be ready to tie! ⁠ ⁠ I love taking time to create beautiful decorative ties. There’s something deeply meditative about it for me. The rhythm of the rope, the small details, the way everything slowly comes together into something beautiful.⁠ ⁠ Some people would say, “This isn’t Shibari, this is macramé.”⁠ Well… okay. Human macramé then... and, I’m very proud of it.⁠ ⁠ Because to me, if the person in the ropes feels loved, beautiful, confident, desired, seen… then it does become Shibari. Even if the knots are decorative. Even if they are intricate and made mostly for beauty.⁠ ⁠ I love combining elegance, softness, connection, sensuality, and complexity in my work. Not everything in rope has to be about restriction. Sometimes it can simply be about creating beauty together. You may disagree, of course! ⁠ ⁠ Important here is - I hope these images inspire you to tie ! ⁠ ⁠ And by the way, tutorials for all these ties are available on my YouTube channel: Voudou Ropes (obviously 😉).⁠ ⁠ If you recreate one of the ties from the tutorials, tag me in your stories. Sometimes you just gotta laugh.. This reel’s been sitting in drafts for a year. Mostly because I’m a massive idiot, and partly because we were fully riding the retreat high filming this and absolutely losing it laughing. Shot at last year’s Freedive Photography Getaway. Truly these trips are just as FUN as educational (yes I am aware there’s nothing educational about this video😆).. A bunch of like-minded people getting together to create cool stuff underwater. Is the chicken banana dance UW cool? Absolutely not. Even if my 3 year old thinks so.. But when someone’s battery dies and all that’s left is shaky action cam footage filmed by someone laughing as much as me… this is what you get. Silver lining: elite breath-hold training. Grab your mates, try this underwater (with safety at the top), and attempt not to laugh. Good luck.
