This one was special. I don’t usually open up online about myself or the early years of my career, but this trip to Chicago meant more to me than I expected. I got to work alongside an amazing team @gradient____ and, thanks to STMNT, share our knowledge, our philosophy, and the way we approach cutting and styling hair. Some of the people sitting in our chairs were among the best and most influential talents in the industry. Yet they came with open minds, no ego, and the willingness to be students for the day. It takes confidence to let yourself be vulnerable like that. I have so much respect for it. The STMNT team welcomed us like we’d always been part of the family. I also got to meet young talents who reminded me how much we have to look forward to. Seeing their curiosity, passion, and energy made me feel good about where our industry is heading. We owe it to them to share what we know—the skills, the lessons, and the mistakes that helped us grow. Giving the next generation the right tools is one of the most meaningful things we can do. After more than 20 years of cutting hair around the world, teaching, working as an artistic director, winning awards, owning shops and a hair product brand… and almost losing everything after COVID, I didn’t realise how much I needed this experience. Chicago gave me the chance to put myself out there again. To feel that I still have something valuable to give. To know I’m still growing, and that I’m in the right place in this hair world I’ve given so much of my life to. So yeah, I’m being a bit of a softy. But if you’ve read this far, thank you. It means a lot. Thank you to everyone who made this trip what it was. You welcomed me, inspired me, and reminded me why I still love what I do. This one will stay with me. ✌️
