A Place to Gather

@guzzlemag & @almostanywhere_ transformed @settle____ by TRESTLE at #AATE26 into a shared dining experience: a space to cook, eat, talk, and gather. A beautiful celebration of place, hospitality, and community-making through the simple ritual of sharing a meal.

It was a pleasure to step inside the atmosphere of the evening!

Thank you to Guzzle, Almost Anywhere, TRESTLE, and everyone who joined us around the table!

A Place to Gather

A few days ago, @settle____ became a dining room.

For one evening, @guzzlemag + @almostanywhere_ brought their site-specific dinner to TRESTLE’s temporary public interior, transforming the installation into a place to cook, eat, talk and gather.

The evening explored place not as somewhere we are simply given, but as something we can create together through rituals of hospitality, food and gathering.

As the kitchen took shape and the table filled, settle became something new: a temporary home for a few hours, before moving on again.

Thank you to Guzzle, Almost Anywhere and TRESTLE for bringing the installation to life in such a generous and memorable way, and to everyone who pulled up a seat.

A Place to Gather

Galway is recognised for its wild and rugged coastline, but there’s plenty happening on the mainland too. Last week, it played host to the World Oyster Championships and an architecture festival adept at bringing people closer together.

For 10 years, Frank Monahan has been opening doors to spaces and places across the city and county, finding creative ways to engage people with the built environment. We were pleased to play a small part in this year’s Architecture at the Edge programme, gathering for dinner inside TRESTLE’s installation.

Five courses, cooked beautifully by Tom and Aoife. A room fizzing with conversation. Drinks from Glendalough Distillery and Brian’s Wines. Another collaboration we are proud to add to the portfolio.

Big thanks to all involved.

Transforming an architectural installation into a temporary kitchen today, filling the space with aromas of bay leaves and freshly cooked clams.

A pleasure to team up with Architecture At The Edge, Almost Anywhere, Trestle and Brian’s Wines on A Place To Gather.

Here’s a sneak peek of tonight’s menu. Kicking off at 6 bells.

A Place to Gather
hosted by Guzzle + Almost Anywhere
#AATE26 Talk at the Table + Dinner

What makes a place feel like somewhere to gather?
For Architecture at the Edge, Guzzle and Almost Anywhere come together at settle, TRESTLE’s temporary public interior, for an evening of food, conversation and gathering.

The site-specific dinner explores place as something we create through gathering, rather than simply somewhere we are fixed to. Without a permanent kitchen, Almost Anywhere moves from place to place, carrying the rituals of hospitality with them — arriving, finding their bearings, cooking and creating a table.

At settle, the structure becomes a dining room, a place of exchange and a temporary home. Designed to be dismantled, rearranged and reimagined, the installation provides a natural setting to consider how objects, food and infrastructure can bring people together.

A Place to Gather invites us to think about how we create a sense of identity, belonging and place through the act of gathering.

The Printworks, 15 Market Street, Galway
Saturday 26 September
6–9:30pm

A pleasure to team up with Tom Hayes and the wider Almost Anywhere crew at AATE this September. A Ballymaloe alumnus and former River Café chef, Tom has been serving produce-led cooking in some pretty special places around Ireland. Trestle’s settle installation is no exception.

Only a handful of tickets left. Book via the link in our bio.
