Carrier Oils
🥑 Avocado Oil - Persea gratissma🥑

I love the gorgeous green, nourishing oil...do you use it in your blending?

This oil has a high level of oleic acid which gives it excellent transdermal properties, sending our essential oils into the body at a quicker rate.

It also has anti-inflammatory and wound healing properties. It is prone to oxidation and solidifies if kept in the fridge so storage is key.

It nourishes dry skin and helps to lock in moisture so perfect for this season when skin dries out as we turn our heating on and get chapped lips due to weather changes.

Due to the thickness we only add around 2% to our massage preparations and maybe a little more for product formulation depending on the product being aware of the could change is brings. I prepared a gel and added this carrier which made it look quite ‘swamp like’ much to the delight of the child with eczema I was preparing it for.

We love to experiment and add different carrier oils to our products within the Well School. We create blends of essential oils unique to clients but add other ingredients to create a truly bespoke aromatherapy treatment.

If you would like to join us for the next intake of our diploma course, please do get in touch, we would love for you to join us.

Are you looking to expand your knowledge and range of essential oils in your kit?
🌱
Every half term we run an online workshop called ‘Additional Oils’. We introduce 5 new essential oils, look at their chemical composition with @dropsmith_aromatherapy , history, therapeutic properties and dive into as much knowledge as possible for these essential oils so that you feel confident adding them to your practise.
🌱
We offer two sessions in our virtual classroom, Thursday 8th October at 12.30pm and Friday 9th October at 6.30pm, both lasting 3 hours.
🌱
There are CPD points to collect and the workshop includes a sample bottle of the oils from @oshadhiuk so that you can start using them immediately before you invest in a full bottle. A lot of fun is had and the sessions are interactive with some fabulous aromatherapists and student aromatherapists joining us.
🌱
If you would like to book we would love to have you, please do visit the CPD section of our website or message us for a direct link.

On a catch up call with a precious friend this morning, we contemplated the return to work and looked back over the last few months and what we’ve learned about ourselves and she comes out with a gem that was definitely insta worthy.
.
She always speaks such incredible wisdom and kindness and I’m thankful for our connection and friendship, the fact we share a love of aromatherapy is an added super bonus.
.
Our oils have travelled with us through a period of lockdown supporting us, our families, friends and also clients.... there is no season or area of life where we cannot invite our knowledge and use of essential oils into.
.
Being a clinical aromatherapists is such a beautiful gift isn’t it?

" Grandma how do you deal with pain?"
" With your hands, dear. When you do it with your mind, the pain harden even more rather than relieving yourself." " With your hands, grandma?"
" Yes, yes. Our hands are the antennas of our soul. When you move them by sewing, cooking, painting, touching the earth or sinking it into the earth, they send signals of caring to the deepest part of you and your soul calms down.
This way she doesn't have to send pain anymore to show it.
" Are hands really that important?"
" Yes my girl. Thinking of babies: they get to know the world thanks to their touches.
When you look at the hands of older people, they tell more about their lives than any other part of the body. Everything that is made by hand, so is said, is made with the heart because it really is like this: hands and heart are connected. Masseuses know this: When they touch another person's body with their hands, they create a deep connection. Thinking of lovers: When their hands touch, they love each other in the most sublime way."
" My hands grandma... how long haven't I used them like that!"
" Move them my girl, start creating with them and everything in you will move. The pain will not pass away. But it will be the best masterpiece. And it won't hurt anymore. Because you managed to embroider your essence." Elena Barnabé

Perfect explanation for why I am in the wonderful job I'm in, missing all my beautiful clients

My lovely friend @carolinerushtonphotography came to our home on Sunday to do some ‘doorstep portraits’ as a fundraiser for our NHS.
While here she captured me working in “Well HQ” preparing for this weeks lessons.

So I thought it would be fun to do a ‘self employed and still working’ challenge. Do you fancy doing this? Take a photo of you, with your oils and bottles, or by your computer, somewhere that clearly shows that you’re at work despite it not being around a massage couch. It may look unfamiliar to clients to see you away from your couch, let them see what a ‘work moment’ looks like for you now. Researching, studying, reading, blending, labelling or resting.... please tag us in your photo so we can come over to like and comment on your photo too.
So here’s my photo and you’ll find me here marking the work of my wonderful diploma students, hosting webinars, course writing and occasionally hiding from the children 😂

You’ll find a different version of my work day on @thewellretreat

We have spent a lot of time together recently in our webinars and community conversations and many of you don’t realise how great you are. 💧
So wanted to remind you today “you are great”. You really are and we love that you are a part of our community and all that you bring which is unique and valued. 💧
Can you pay that forward, message, call, FaceTime with someone in your personal / business life and let them know how great you think they are. 💧
Imagine getting that message while hidden away, safe, in lockdown... now that would lift the spirit. Go on......let them know

I saw a wonderful post tonight about massage therapists so I’ve adapted it to be about an aromatherapist.... so here goes. 🍃
So what makes us different?
We are most definitely do not work in massage parlours or call ourselves a masseuse....both antiquated terms associated with the sex industry.

We are qualified professionals, regulated by our membership associations of which we adhere to their high standards of ethics and codes of conduct.
We are required to continuously update our qualifications and we travel the UK and the world to update our knowledge and seek other professionals within our field and learn from them. These conferences and training days see us stand side by side with healthcare professionals, chiropractors, osteopaths, movements practitioners and doctors.
We don’t continue our training because we HAVE to but because we WANT to, love to and desire to offer our clients the best and up to date knowledge that we can access. Many of us train over the hours necessary because we love what we do.
Knowledge and skill is something we desire to better serve our community of clients, who look to us as a necessity for health, not a luxury pamper.
Essential oils are not ingredients that make a massage smell nice, not for us, they are consciously chosen from a vast selection using our knowledge of plants, chemistry, pathology and physiology to harness the power of the natural world to bring balance, harmony and calm to your body and mind.
We own our own businesses, rooms, clinics and centres. We equip clients to care for their own health and wellbeing and provide ‘tools’ to do so.
We are professionals, we are practitioners, we are clinical aromatherapists.
