September = Alopecia awareness month πŸ™πŸ»
This is my 9th year of being bald after what feels like a lifetime with hair, this was tough to accept this new identity of mine and yet here I am , TRYING to live my best life.
For me , the mountains are my sanctuary, I can be unapologetically me, bald with not a care in the world. Wigs are fab but it’s no substitute for your own hair but we move with it cos it and we make the best of really shitty situation.

Over time I’ve learnt this much, hair does not define me, yes at times I still struggle with how different I look but also at times I feel unique and different and that’s pretty fuckin special 🀩so I continue to simply be me, bald or otherwise I chase my dreams and work hard to achieve them. Thanks to my family for always saying the right things, you mean the world to me and for my friends who at times carry me when I’m just not feeling it, I love yous all 😍😍😍😍
Here’s some snippets , mostly of good times #alopeciaawarenessmonth #alopecia #baldisbeautiful

September is Alopecia Awareness Month πŸ’™

Roughly two in every hundred people will experience Alopecia at some point in their lives, and for many of them it starts in childhood. It’s autoimmune and has nothing to who with how well you look after your hair.

As the founder of SkynCap, I have seen how differently hair loss shows up for each person and this community holds space for all of it.

Alopecia happens every day and it’s important to use this month to raise awareness for the people who live with it. Especially those who inspire us everyday to embrace our strengths and beauty!

7 years of celebrating alopecia, 7 years of learning to be comfortable in the uncomfortable, learning to grow where God has planted me. 7 years of being reminded that my identity has never been defined by my hair. Going through photos of where I was in my life in 2020 is a reminder of how faithful Jesus is and how he can moves mountains in unthinkable circumstances. There have been days of confidence, days of frustration, days of anxiety, days of depression, days of questions, and days where I’ve had to remind myself that God created me wonderfully and intentionally. The number seven in the Bible often represents completion and fullness, God never left my side, through any of it, He walked with me through the woods and i know He would do it again and again. Here’s to seven years of awareness, seven years of growth, and seven years of seeing God’s hand through it all because it’s ALL JESUS!πŸ€ŸπŸ»πŸ’™

It’s September 1st, which marks the start of Alopecia Awareness Month. This year is 20 years since Alopecia Universalis entered my life - well - to be correct- AU has changed my life.

Briefly for those who are new to my page: I lost all my hair within a month (every hair on my body- scalp, eyelashes, eyebrows & body hair) For me at the time this was unimaginable as I had no previous history with the condition.

Today I feel grateful for the disease (never thought I would say this)

Alopecia and bodybuilding have enhanced my life in ways I never expected. So to mark today, here is a montage of some pictures from this season working for @steveweinberger.bevsgym & @npc_northeast . You can see the happiness in my expressions - this community is everything to me & others. Always love working with & meeting people. This visual & life altering condition allows me to connect with so many. πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™

People will always have something to say.

These are just a few of the comments I’ve received over the yearsβ€”both online and in personβ€”since losing my hair to alopecia.

One person tells me I look better with makeup. Another says I look better without it. One says I don’t need a wig. Another says I look sick or scary without hair.

The truth is, when you’re navigating something as personal as alopecia, every comment about your appearance can make you question yourself. Even compliments can become something you overthink when you’re wondering what they’re actually complimenting.

Is it because I’m wearing a wig?
Is it because I’m not?
Is it because I’m wearing makeup?
Is it because of my head shape??

That’s why I’ve learned that my confidence can’t be built on other people’s opinionsβ€”because opinions change, but my worth doesn’t.

If this reminds you of someone who’s struggling with hair loss, alopecia, or body image, send this to them. πŸ’™ And if you’re reading this while fighting your own battle, I hope you know this:

You are beautiful exactly as you areβ€”in a wig, without one, with hair, without hair, with makeup, without makeup. Your worth has never depended on your appearance. πŸ’›

Inspired by the beautiful storytelling of @sarahnew and @anastasiia.zhrnko
Thank you for creating something that resonated with so many of us. ✨
