From first tracks to real-world response, avalanche dog teams are a critical part of mountain safety.

This season, 15 patrols across the country were supported through the NSP + NARD Avalanche Dog Grant, advancing training, certification, and readiness nationwide.

We’re incredibly grateful to @nard_org for making this work possible and for their ongoing commitment to these teams.

Together, we strengthen avalanche rescue.

NSP x NARD is proud to announce the 2026 Avalanche Dog Grant Awardees - supporting 15 patrols with over $54,000 in funding to elevate avalanche dog programs nationwide.

These grants directly support training, certification, and care for avalanche dog teams who respond when every second matters. We’re grateful to North American Rescue Dogs (NARD) for their continued partnership and shared commitment to mountain safety.

Meet Echo, one of our certified patrol dogs! 🐾

Ski patrol dogs are highly trained canine heroes, that are used for mountain rescues and general mountain safety, capable of riding lifts, snowmobiles, and helicopters to help locate humans buried under the snow using their powerful sense of smell. ⛑️⛷️ we’re proud of our patrol dog teams and all of the work they do to help keep our communities safe!

While they are cute and fluffy, please remember the patrol dogs are working dogs, and give them plenty of room on the slopes and always ask before approaching ❤️
