This afternoon, I finally got to learn from my dear friend @alpj511 after many years of friendship! Painting side by side with Aleta, learning techniques and methods of meditative art-making I’ve never tried before was both inspiring and soothing, curiosity-sparking and calming. Watching Aleta’s brushstrokes and lines was mesmerizing, and I learned so much from her in this wonderful window of time. Thank you, friend, for sharing your talent and heart with me and always reminding me that engaging our creativity isn’t about perfection, but about the exploration itself. It was just what I needed to tap into creative rest. 💛

Visit Aleta’s website at https://aletajacobsonartist.com to learn more about her art and offerings. 🤍

Get into the Valentines spirit with upcoming workshops at the Maloof.

Artist Cesar Garcia @zuaycreatex leads on this Saturday a hands-on Linocut Card and Envelope Printing Workshop, focused on creating heartfelt, handmade Valentine’s cards. Designed for beginner to more advanced participants, this workshop introduces the fundamentals of linocut printmaking while also offering space for more detailed carving and creative exploration. Participants will learn how to design, carve, ink, and print their own original card designs, with guidance and support throughout the process.

On February 14, artist Aleta Jacobson @alpj511 leads Seeing Red, an immersive, hands-on watercolor workshop that explores the expressive power of a single color. In this focused session, participants will learn to create a compelling monochromatic painting using a palette composed of 90% red watercolor, discovering the surprising depth and versatility possible through shifts in hue, saturation, and value.
