Lady Tremaine by @hochhauser
Goodreads: 4.16
Pub Date: March 3, 2026

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ 4/5 ⭐️’s

I love my book club so much! Everyone gets the chance to suggest titles, and then we all cast a single vote in a survey to pick our monthly read. It’s super low-key with zero pressure. I originally thought I wouldn’t be able to make it this month, but my plans changed at the last minute and I was able to go—which meant scrambling to finish the book in time! Many of my book club friends are tagged here, so please make sure to go give them some love! 🤍

Lady Tremaine is a Cinderella retelling told entirely from the stepmother’s perspective. The story thoroughly covers her upbringing, her past romances, and the tragic loss of her loves. In this version, her daughters are named Rosamund and Mathilde, while Cinderella goes by Elin. While it still features the core plot line of the prince hosting a ball to find a bride, it was everything happening in between that really captured my attention. ✨

Although the opening felt a bit slow, the second half absolutely flew by! I was deeply intrigued by the dynamics between Lady Tremaine’s daughters and Elin—they shared subtle similarities to the original while remaining distinctly different. There was also a big twist. I was also completely fascinated by the details surrounding falconry throughout the story! 🦅

🙋🏻‍♀️ QOTD: If you are in a book club, what are you reading and how does it work? If not, what is your favorite fairy tale or fairy tale retelling? Have you read any villain retellings lately?

6 months of Book Club

I love being part of a book club and meeting with the ladies every month(ish) to discuss books. We started virtually in 2021 and have gained many new members since! These are the books we have chosen and read for the first half of 2026. We are meeting on Sunday to discuss Good People and I can’t wait. There is lots to talk about!

I have enjoyed them all, but my favorite to both read and discuss has probably been The Names.

QOD: Are you in any book clubs? What has been your favorite book that your book club has read?

@chapter.chatter.collabs presents to you our collab with the theme: Smart Rec Swaps 📚🔄✨

Sometimes the perfect recommendation isn’t a book that’s exactly the same, it’s the one that gives you the same feeling. Sometimes it’s a book a friend insisted you read. Sometimes it’s the title you’d hand to someone who just finished a favorite and needs their next obsession. Today we’re sharing our smart rec swaps: the books we’d trade, pair, and recommend to fellow readers. Because one great book often leads to another. 📚💙

📚🔄✨💭📖🌟
When I signed up for this collab, I had no idea what I would do! I reached out to my book club for some of their recommendations and this is what we came up with!

May flowers may be blooming, but my TBR is BOOMING.

Sweet sunshine, beautiful flowers, and a fresh stack of books, makes for a perfect spring day.

This stack leans into fantasy worlds, magic systems, and stories that pull you straight out of reality and don’t really let go.

For this month’s ‘May flower’ stack, I’ve chosen:

📚 The Ten Thousand Doors of January
📚 Heart of the Sun Warrior
📚 The Song of the Marked
 📚 Small Favors

All of these have that mix of magic, tension, and even some high-stakes storytelling I’m always in the mood for.
