Right before this meeting with Alexandria’s Independent Board, I picked up what I believed were my brother Allan’s personal belongings. I was handed a box that included his fingernails, the seat belt cut off him to remove him from the police cruiser for CPR, and the handcuffs he was arrested in. They actually handed those items to a grieving family.

Nobody should EVER be presented with something like that. No family should go to collect their loved one’s belongings and leave carrying government issued property, tied to their final moments. It was and still is deeply traumatic.

The city of Alexandria and all personnel and entities involved must be held accountable.

Thank you to FOX 5 @fox5dc for continuing to bring attention to my brother Allan Tucker’s case and our family’s fight for justice and accountability. 🤍🕊️

There are some things I want the public to understand.
ALLAN CALLED THE POLICE ON HIMSELF. Other individuals in the building also called. Before officers took my brother away in handcuffs, my other brother spoke to the officers over the phone and specifically told them to TAKE ALLAN TO THE HOSPITAL TO GET SOME HELP !
We were expecting my brother to receive HELP. We were NEVER expecting detectives to show back up and say Allan died at the jail !

No family should EVER be handed the handcuffs or the seatbelt that had to be cut off their loved one. Do you understand how traumatizing that is ? To be left holding the very items that restrained someone you loved during their final moments ? Those are things a family can never unsee, unfeel, or forget.
My brother needed help. My brother deserved help. And my brother deserved to make it home ALIVE.

Now, as we pursue legal action against the City of Alexandria and officers Chelsea Henry and William McGinnis, we are demanding answers, transparency, and accountability for the circumstances surrounding Allan’s death.
This is not just about a lawsuit. This is about a human life. A brother. A son. An uncle. Someone who was loved, needed, and deserved so much more than what happened to him.

Allan called for help. Our family asked for help. Instead, we were left planning a funeral.
We will continue to speak his name, tell his story, and demand accountability. Not just for Allan, but in hopes that another family never has to experience the pain and trauma that ours has endured.

JUSTICE FOR ALLAN TUCKER. ALWAYS. 🤍🕊️

Science, technology, art, and community, all in one place!

Mayor Alyia Gaskins joined us at Chrysalis Development Group’s 11th Annual Spooky Mad Science Expo, where an incredible mix of people, ideas, and experiences brought learning to life.

From space science, chemistry, robotics, drones, cybersecurity, AI, and gaming to architecture and the arts, Spooky brought together universities, companies, government agencies, nonprofits, community organizations, and outstanding student-led teams.

Every participant brought something unique, creating hands-on experiences that let young people explore new interests, connect with experts, and discover educational and career opportunities.

This is what makes Spooky special: science meets art, technology meets creativity, and a diverse community comes together to open doors for the next generation.

Thank you, Mayor Gaskins, for being part of the excitement!

Presented by Chrysalis Development Group in partnership with RPCA.

Tonight Elaine’s celebrated us: the Mayor, the artists, the businesses, the task force, and the residents who made this pilot happen.

Thank you to Cynthia and Jeffrey Higgins for opening your doors, and to Hope Gibbs for launching Elaine’s new Art Salon with this community at its heart.

Grateful to Mayor Alyia Gaskins for her remarks and her continued belief in what art can do for our city.

Hearing artists and business owners talk about what changed when art came into their spaces is exactly why this work matters.

I also have some news: after working on the task force for the past amazing five months I was absolutely honored and thrilled to accept when Robin asked me to be the official Art In Every Space Associate Coordinator. 🎨

I’m so proud of what we built in this pilot together.

When art lives where we live, work, and gather, the whole city gets to be part of the story.
