Cheers to Culinary Careers Program Alumni! 🥂 Thank you to our alums and industry partners who joined us at @location215 for an evening of cocktails, conversation, and celebrating what makes the C•CAP community so special. A special thank you to Angie Marin, our Director of Alumni Relations, for sharing resources to support our alumni as they grow in their careers. New connections were made, old friendships were rekindled, and a few conversations turned into potential job opportunities. We left inspired by the talent in the room and the partners who continue to open doors for our alumni. C•CAP for life!

An Ode to Summer ☀️🥂 There are some summer afternoons you wish you could make last just a little longer. For our final happy hour of the summer, Les Dames Philadelphia gathered in the beautiful courtyard at Anna & Bel, a little oasis tucked into a residential corner of Fishtown. It was especially wonderful to see so many parts of our chapter gathered around the same tables—founding members Aliza Green and Susanna Foo, board members, longtime Dames, newer members, recent applicants, and friends of Les Dames who joined us for the afternoon. At one point, we went around the group and each took less than a minute to share a little bit about ourselves. Just a minute—but enough to learn something new about the women sitting beside us. It was simple, personal, and one of the sweetest parts of the afternoon. With our own little bar, beautiful bites, plenty of conversation, and that sparkling pool as our backdrop, it was the kind of afternoon that made you want to linger. A lovely way to savor the last stretch of summer—and welcome all that comes next. And what comes next? Our Heritage Dinner on September 13! We hope you’ll join us for one of the most special nights on our calendar. Meet the C•CAP Philly crew! New school year = time to (re)introduce the faces behind your favorite culinary program! Alyssa Termini: Program Director, @jwuprovidence grad, and officially kicking off year 10 with C•CAP! 🎉 A decade in and still just as excited about connecting schools, chefs, and industry partners to build real opportunities for our students. Her job? Making the partnerships happen that keep this program thriving. Kevine Dupree: Program Coordinator, C•CAP alum, @mercyctephilly + @lincolnuniversityofpa grad, and heading into year 2! 🙌 He’s our student-teacher-school connector, bridging the classroom and the industry every single day. “It tastes like Hawai’i Thanksgiving in here,” said @arimillerx. Such an incredible privilege to have @bindingagents’ Cookbook Club test recipes from my upcoming @phaidonpress book Hawaii’s Table. These home cooks had a real challenge — I gave them the recipes to test with zero context. No headnotes and no photographs and they all turned out AMAZING. (Also much to my relief.) It was so trippy to see so many of my aunties’ dishes on this table in Philly … Aunty Arlene’s Mac salad, Aunty Dianne’s avocado pudding, Aunty Myra’s shoyu chicken, my grandma Gloria’s guisantes. I’m so proud and a little in shock and so incredibly happy that this truly tasted like an Aranita-Batis luau. Mahalo Catie and @emdrums for making this happen ♥️♥️♥️

JOB TRAINING FINAL DAY! And just like that, our students are off to summer internship. Thank you @culinary.collective @bldg39arsenal for hosting our final day! 🏫: Building tour with THE @ksitrin 🗣️: Panel discussion with @trinheatss , Semaj & Judah from @life.stylesessions and Kiarrah from @browns.market 🥪: lunch by @life.stylesessions 🍨: Water ice from @pinkscoldtreats 🍽️: Hospitality relay race (thank you to @manongphilly for letting us borrow napkins!) All students received certificates of completion before we said goodbye! Please be sure to say hi to a C•CAP intern if you happen to see them at work this summer. JOB TRAINING DAY 4! 🐖: Per tradition, we spent the morning at @rdgterminalmkt - thank you to GM Annie , @hershelseastsidedeli @thefamous4thstreetcookies and @foxandsonphilly for speaking with students! We had a tour of the market, students did a scavenger hunt and then we had lunch before heading back to CCP. 🗣️: A lesson on the differences between aggressive, passive aggressive, and assertive attitudes followed by skits acting out workplace scenarios. 🖥️: @ballmeblazer_9 from @toasttab taught students about POS systems and restaurant technology. Students got to test a handheld system and learn how technology supports the hospitality industry. 🤝: 20 guests joined us for mock interviews. Students went through 5 rounds of interviews to practice before heading out on real interviews in the next 2 weeks! It was a very successful day, we can’t believe it’s all over tomorrow!

JOB TRAINING DAY 3! 🧁: half the students learned buttercream & piping techniques with Chef Rachel from @drexelfoodlab @drexelfhm 🧁: half the students made pastry cream with Josh from @poppascustardco to make fruit tarts and banana pudding 🍽️: Professor Paul O’Neil from @drexelfhm led a session on the basics of hospitality 🗒️: Our soft skills lessons focused on hospitality, boundaries, mental health, and harassment & knowing your rights in the workplace 📄: We finished the day with 14 guests who helped students edit and finalize their resumes 🍗: Lunch was roasted chicken, vegetables, and potato salad students made yesterday with Chef Nia We can’t believe the week is more than halfway through, the students are doing a great job!

JOB TRAINING DAY 2! 🧑🏽‍🍳: chicken fabrication & emulsions to prep tomorrow’s lunch. Thank you Chef Nia for joining us today! 🤝: C•CAP alum @terryg_90 from @citizensbank led a session on first impressions and financial literacy. We love when Terry leads by making an example of making a bad first impression! 📝: In the classroom, students learned resume writing, interview skills, how to stay in a job, and how to search for jobs using @culinaryagents 🧠: @phillytographer from @bghwellnessllc ended our day by leading a session on food connecting to our mental health, wellness, and culture. Our students are learning so much and are getting ready to enter the hospitality industry. See you back for day 3!
