I followed Joe for years, long before he had the audience he eventually built. There was something about the way his mind worked that connected with me. I’d watch his videos constantly thinking, “Yes. Exactly.” Things I’d thought about, talked about, or wondered myself.

I liked the guy before I ever knew the guy.

Then one day Joe mentioned he and Alex were coming to St. Augustine. I messaged him out of nowhere: “I’m here. Let’s meet up.”

And we did.

We went to lunch and instantly clicked. We talked about EVERYTHING — life, business, history, travel, ideas, the world. Meanwhile Joe and Alex were running their business from two laptops and what seemed like six phones. They were hustlers, constantly working while somehow never missing a beat in the conversation.

After lunch we walked around St. Augustine while I gave them my version of the history tour. We spent six straight hours together.

People kept stopping us: “Joe! I watch your videos!” Seeing firsthand how many people he had reached was incredible.

A few weeks later they held a meet-and-greet at the Sand Dollar condos. Somehow, of all places, it was a building where I already did business and literally had a parking spot.

I came toward the end, let the fans have their time, then hung out with Joe and Alex afterward. We talked, laughed, smoked a joint in the parking lot, and I got to see and hold some of the things I’d watched Joe talk about online — the crystal, the old books, the Bibles.

We stayed in touch after that, especially about Costa Rica.

Joe was building casitas near Bijagua, an area I already knew and loved. My son and I were planning to stay there when they were finished. I asked Joe when I should plan the trip. He said around the end of June or July.

So in my mind, there was always going to be another time.

Life got busy. I was simply waiting for the casitas to be finished.

That’s the part that hurts.

I’m grateful I sent that random message. I’m grateful he answered. And I’m grateful I got to know the person behind the screen.

Joe was exactly who I hoped he would be.

I really thought I’d see you again, brother.

Joe talks freedom from systems.
Alex talks freedom from what you’re still carrying.

Together, they’re building a life in Costa Rica that challenges comfort, convenience, and the version of success most of us were taught to chase.

This conversation gets raw, spiritual, controversial, and honest.
