Alice Mizrachi is a New York-based multidisciplinary artist, muralist, educator, and longtime contributor to the city’s hip hop and arts community. Her work lives at the intersection of visual art, hip hop culture, and social engagement, using creativity as a powerful tool to connect people, inspire young minds, and build stronger communities. Alice has taken that mission beyond New York, serving as a U.S. cultural ambassador and contributing to international cultural exchange through initiatives like the U.S. Department of State’s Next Level program. By bringing hip-hop’s creative elements—including visual art, music, and cultural expression—into educational and community settings, she helps demonstrate that hip hop is much more than a genre. It’s a global language that can cross borders, bridge differences, and create opportunities for dialogue. From murals and public art to youth mentorship and international exchanges, Alice represents another essential side of hip hop culture: the artists and educators who preserve its roots while using its influence to create something meaningful for the next generation #hiphopculture

Your work can be incredible, but if your presentation doesn’t capture attention, you may never get the opportunity to showcase it. 🎨

When you’re applying for a public art opportunity, you’re not just submitting your artwork. You’re telling your story, communicating your vision, and giving a selection committee a reason to connect with you.

With hundreds of artists competing for the same opportunity, what makes YOU stand out?

Your portfolio, artist statement, and overall presentation matter. Make every submission intentional. Make every word count. Give them a reason to remember you.

The right opportunity is just as important as the right proposal.

On The Open Palette Podcast, artist Alice Mizrachi breaks down one of the biggest misconceptions about grant writing: the real challenge isn’t always writing the grant. It’s finding an opportunity that aligns with your vision, mission, and purpose.

Applying for every opportunity isn’t the answer. Being intentional about where you invest your time and energy is what matters.

And when it comes to AI? It’s a tool, not a crutch. 💡

Your story, your voice, and your vision should always remain authentic.

ACOR was thrilled to attend the 2026 Arts Alive Grantee Reception, hosted by ArtsWestchester at Philipse Manor Hall State Historic Site in Yonkers on Friday, October 2.

We had the opportunity to connect with elected representatives, NYSCA officials, and so many incredibly talented artists and arts organizations from Westchester and Rockland Counties. Gatherings like this are a great reminder of just how much creativity is happening throughout our region, and how important it is to have the resources to support it.

Arts Alive Grants are made possible through the Statewide Community Regrant program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA), with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered locally by ArtsWestchester.

These funds are crucial to sustaining and growing arts and culture across New York State. They help artists create new work, enable arts organizations to bring programs into their communities, and provide residents with opportunities to experience, participate in, and connect through the arts.

ACOR was thrilled to be there to celebrate the artists and organizations from Rockland County receiving support this year. Investments like Arts Alive strengthen not only individual artists and arts organizations, but also the communities they serve, helping to create more connected and creative places where people want to live, work, visit, and invest.

Thank you to ArtsWestchester, NYSCA, Governor Kathy Hochul, and the New York State Legislature for continuing to recognize the important role arts and culture play in our communities.

And congratulations to all of the 2026 Arts Alive grantees!
