Sunday Reading Wrapup…. With a Christmas twist! 🎄

As I finished up my Christmas reading today (no more holiday reads for me, it’s time to enter my Dark Academia and fantasy era)… here’s some recent Christmas reads set in my country CANADA.. and written by Canadian authors ❤️

Wassailing We Will Go by @amanda.emdin is the cutest cozy Christmas read set in Prince Edward County. Rival Cideries, pretty funny but adorable meet cute, and a MC who could be a Hemsworth brother.. incredible banter, I laughed so much the whole book.. and perfect for those of us who celebrate the originally British tradition of Wassailing.

Home to Christmas Island by @emmadaviewrites is another cozy read set in Cape Breton, set during Christmas and New Years. If you love romantic tension, witty banter, and a heavy focus on family.. think of the Christmas lyric “I’ll be home for Christmas” then this is the book for you! It’s a quick read too! A very emotional read too I should add, because it also has a focus on grief during the holidays.. which I very much related to.

And last but not least, The Christmas Express by Isla Gordon. This is a longer read but it really focuses on forced proximity, a snowy winter wonderland setting and forgiveness. A really sweet and fun Christmas read! Even though I wanted to shake some of the characters for being so stubborn and ridiculous! But they find their way, promise.

Q: have you read any of these yet?! If you’re still reading for Christmas read these stat 🎄❤️

Wassailing We Will Go — and now I want to go wassailing too!
This was such a sweet holiday romance, I loved Harrison (because who doesn’t love a golden retriever, Robert Irwin type energy?!) and really related to Kate’s competitive nature. “Temu Thor” made me laugh out loud and I loved the cidery setting for this book.
It’s also set close to where my dad’s family used to live near Belleville, and where I spent many summers. But now I want to go back during the winter months! 🎄❤️

Last week, I put a question box in my stories asking for holiday romance recs by indie authors! Here are a list that included those, as well some of my favs that I have read either last year or this year!

I have read 16/30 of these! How many have you read?

With Christmas just two weeks away (!!), and with the weather looking decidedly Canadian AND Christmas-like in my area (we've had a BONKERS amount of snow in the last month, including a ton this week) I thought I'd share some more holiday books, this time with a focus on stories set in Canada. 🇨🇦📚❄️

I didn't want to overcrowd the graphic by including which province each book is set in, so keep reading for the break down.

Have you read any of these? Do you have any Canadian-set holiday romances you'd add to the list?

This delightfully cozy holiday read from fellow Canadian romance author @amanda.emdin gave me a cuppa cheer and a warm, fuzzy romance to fall in love with just in time for the season. With a hot tub meet cute with a hunky Aussie and a community of quirky, lovable characters, I enjoyed every moment while gaining a whole new appreciation for the delicate cider making process!

Our last Kobo Original author for this year is @amanda.emdin with her novel WASSAILING WE WILL GO!

Amanda spent many years working for the tourism industry in Prince Edward County before finally setting in the Durham Region.
She lives with her husband, kiddo, dog, and cat on Lake Ontario, and gets back to Prince Edward County every chance she gets, because it’s where the free baby sitters and good restaurants live.

Great way to start a snowy morning! Stopped by @dineencoffeeco because @kobobooks was doing a popup! Free coffee (or matcha/chai) on them and i got to hear about the new Kobo remote!

Plus, play plinko to win prizes! Was amazed and actually won a remote for myself! 🤩

WASSAILING WE WILL GO
AMANDA EMDIN

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"She needs a Christmas miracle; he may be just what Santa had in mind."
--------
Review:
This book is basically a Christmas hug… with cider.

Kate Donnelly is out here juggling a whole life crisis starter pack:
a failing family cidery, a petty neighbour who wakes up every morning choosing violence, and a festival deadline breathing down her neck. And just when things can’t get worse? Her cidermaker taps out and lands in the ER. Iconic timing.

Enter Harrison Turner—sunshine in human form, with Australian charm, annoyingly perfect outdoorsy vibes, and cider skills that could single-handedly save Christmas. Their hot-tub meet-cute? Hallmark could NEVER.

But then Kate learns he’s best buds with the competition and literally living in their basement like a very handsome mole. Suddenly “holiday miracle” feels dangerously like “holiday chaos.”

This book gave me:
✨ Crackling chemistry
✨ Small-town drama so delicious it counts as a snack
✨ Christmas magic without being sticky-sweet
✨ A heroine you root for
✨ A hero who feels like Santa’s gift to women everywhere

If you like cozy romance with real-life stakes, lovable characters, and enough festive charm to thaw even the coldest Canadian winter—read this. Immediately.

It’s warm, witty, and a teensy bit chaotic… just like the holidays. 🎄💛

QOTD:If Santa sent you a helper for December, what skill would you specifically request?

Thank you so much @amanda.emdin for the #gifted earc

Friends Book Challenge ✨️🫶

We saw @the.bookishmama do this a while ago, and thought it was so much fun. We put our little spin on it, and included some episodes with their respective tropes, and books we love with that trope!

QOTD- What is one of your comfort shows?
