Well… I’m 50. 😳 There, I said it and I’ve finally accepted it. šŸ˜‚

I’m not going to pretend turning 50 was easy for me. I spent way too much of the last year thinking about how much time I have left on this planet and whether I’d become obsolete (mainly by my children and the Gen Z’s šŸ˜‚), whether I’ve done enough, whether I’ve made enough of an impact, and wondering if I should have somehow accomplished more by now. Basically, I gave myself a year-long existential crisis over a number. šŸ˜‚

But somewhere along the way, I remembered all those lessons about gratitude (thanks @brandydavis)—and realized I was looking at my life completely backwards.

When I look at these pictures, I don’t see 50 years passing. I see a life I’m incredibly lucky to have lived. I see my family, friendships that have stood the test of time, people who have shown up for me, made me laugh until I cried (and pee’d because…50), challenged me, supported me, and loved me through all my different seasons.

And honestly… I look at some of these people and wonder, how the hell did I score you? šŸ˜‚ā¤ļø

I’m walking into my 50s with less pressure to prove myself and a whole lot more gratitude. I don’t know exactly how much time I have left, and maybe I don’t need to.

More laughing. More adventures. More saying yes. More saying no to things that don’t matter. More being present. More giving than receiving. More loving my people hard.

And to every single person who has been part of my story—thank you. You are a bigger part of my life than you probably realize, and I am incredibly grateful for you.

And then there’s my wife (of 18 years) and 3 amazing kids. They’ve completely filled my cup—and occasionally emptied it, usually by 8 a.m. šŸ˜‚ Parenting is hard. Like, really hard. There’s no manual, no days off, and somehow everyone still needs you even when you have no idea what you’re doing or when you feel like you’re failing. But raising these kids, alongside Yvette, is probably the accomplishment I’m most proud of. They’re my favorite people, my biggest motivation, and the best part of everything I’ve built.

So here’s to the next decade. I have a feeling it’s going to be a really good one ā¤ļø
