What happens when we stop performing—and let ourselves be seen? ✨

The capable one. The easygoing one. The one who always holds it together.

Sometimes the roles that help us belong leave little room for who we actually are.

On Dealing Healing, I’m joined by Amanda Baker for Authenticity as Intervention: What Happens When We Stop Performing.

An invitation to explore the masks we wear, the cost of constantly editing ourselves, and the possibility of connection without a performance.

Who are you when you don’t have to prove anything? 🤍

The messy middle is where the magic actually happens.
Because if life was always perfect, you’d never get the lesson, the growth, or the version of you that comes out of it.I keep coming back to this:
    • The peak is pretty, but the valley teaches you.
    • The process is the purpose, even when it feels annoying.
    • The view only makes sense when you’ve lived the climb.
We’re all trying to get to the “end goal,” but the truth is the journey is the thing. The messy part is usually where you become who you’re supposed to be. What part of your life is teaching you the most right now? #themessymiddle #growthmindset #personaldevelopment #journeyoverdestination

Lights, camera, action:
Perfectionism is just self-betrayal wearing a cute outfit.

If this hit, save it for the next time your brain starts yelling “be better.”
Amanda said something I won’t forget - a lot of burnout isn’t from doing too much.

It’s from abandoning your real desire and trying to earn worth instead.
That’s why the loop feels endless.

You keep chasing “perfect,” but your body is really asking for safety, honesty, and rest.
Maybe the goal isn’t to fix yourself.

Maybe it’s to notice the fear, pause, and ask:

what do I actually want right now?
MESsy middle > fake perfection.

Always.

Two weeks ago, we had the pleasure of @amandaontheflip leading our clinicians through our quarterly wellness event.

Together, we took intentional time to slow down, reconnect, and create space for ourselves amidst the important work we do every day. As therapists, we spend so much of our time supporting others through life’s challenges, and we believe it’s just as important to care for the people doing that work.

At Serenity, clinician wellbeing is not an afterthought—it’s a priority. We want our team to know that who they are matters just as much as what they do.

A huge thank you to Amanda for guiding us through such a meaningful and restorative experience. #marylandtherapist #mentalhealthsupport #mentalhealthawareness

There’s a version of you underneath everything you’ve been taught to be.

Under the expectations.
Under the conditioning.
Under the identity.

It’s harder to describe.
But you can feel it.

Usually stillness.
Usually in safety.
Usually in moment that dont require performance.

Thats the real you.
