Creativity Decoded X AMA Psalmist.

There’s something special about getting to step outside the work and speak about the thinking that made the work possible.

I had the honour of joining an incredible room of high level professionals at Nigerian Breweries to unpack the journey behind our multiple Cannes Lions Award winning Campaign - Vaseline and The Real Nigerian Prince. From the creative thinking to the execution, and ultimately, a piece of work that has travelled the world and earned recognition on some of its biggest stages. I also learnt so much from other campaigns from industry stakeholders present.

Moments like this also make me incredibly proud of what we’re building at APV @amapsalmistvisuals The work is travelling further, the rooms are getting bigger, and we remain committed to building a company capable of doing exceptional work at the highest level.

To the entire Nigerian Breweries @nigerianbreweriesplc team, thank you for the warmth and hospitality, and to the astute professionals in the room, thank you for the privilege of sharing our work and process with you.

Truly enjoyed directing this campaign.

From the first time I read the script, I was inspired by what it was trying to say and especially how it chose to say it. The words felt important then, and with some of the conversations, realities and recent happenings around us, they still feel incredibly relevant today.

That was probably one of the things I loved most about working on MsRepresented: Representation Matters. It wasn’t just about creating a beautiful film, it was about contributing to a conversation that genuinely matters.

I also truly enjoyed making this with my team @amapsalmistvisuals From prep to shoot to putting all the pieces together, this was one of those projects where the process itself was really fulfilling.

Loved seeing everyone, from everyday people to honourables, powerful women, thoughtful men and children, lending their voices to this important conversation.

Grateful to @wilanglobal and @capitalfilmng for trusting us with it, and to everyone who lent their voice and presence to the campaign.

Still very proud of this one.

At 20, Michael “AMA Psalmist” Akinrogunde’s father gave him five years to prove filmmaking could be more than a hobby. Today, the bet has paid off.

@amapsalmist has directed television commercials, documentaries, web series, films, and live events for some of the continent’s biggest brands and projects.

In this interview, he reflects on betting on himself, building one of Nigeria’s most respected production companies, and the financial lessons he’s learned along the way.
