You’ve heard of a First Fruit Celebration? Yesterday, we had a Last Fruit Celebration!

It’s true, we are all in for fruit! Our final grapes were our very own 777 Swede Hill Pinot noir. Does this mean harvest is over? Not quite… we still have plenty to do, but we are so proud of our production team and all the hard work that they’ve put into this vintage!

Harvest is the most critical time in wine world. Do you want to learn more about this vintage and our winemaking style? Attend one of our Harvest events at either of our locations. Tickets with details for both Portland and Bend can be found in the link in our bio.

A look at the new patio at The Newberry Hotel in downtown Bend.

I stopped by their patio event in August and brought my camera along. The signature cocktails included the Newberry Lemonade with sage and mint infused lemonade and Bardstown Bourbon, and the Tres Amigos Paloma with Tres Agaves tequila and grapefruit.

We’ve stayed at The Newberry before, and the location is hard to beat. It’s right downtown and so easy to walk to restaurants, shops, drinks and the river. S’mores, live music, cocktails, wine tasting and little bites made for a really fun patio stop.

The Newberry is part of Hilton’s Tapestry Collection.

Our production team spent some time last week visiting vineyard partners as we begin harvest.

In addition to the 12 acres we farm at our Portland estate, we source grapes from@multiple AVAs throughout the Willamette Valley. These vineyard visits give our team the opportunity to check in on the vines, make sure our future grapes are looking good, and introduce newer members of the production team to what we look for during vineyard walks ahead of harvest.

There’s a lot that happens before a drop of wine ever reaches your glass. That’s what makes harvest one of the most exciting times of year at Amaterra.

We’re getting closer to the next vintage by the day!

If you’re looking to grab a glass of wine, Bend has a ton of wonderful options, but these are my faves. 🍷

Swipe to learn where you can do a blind tasting, who has $5 glasses and where you can find cozy fireplaces and fire pits as the air gets crispier!

A peek into our Blessing of the Fruit tradition!

Our first fruit of the season was brought to us today; Sauvignon Blanc from Lonesome Springs Ranch. This is a huge call for celebration, so we invite the whole crew to come down to the cellar. We honor the fruit and mark the beginning of Harvest 2026!

We had a toast of our ‘21 Brut Reserve and an on-theme snack prepared by Chef Jami (yes, those are charred grapes!).

Follow along for more harvest content and updates to come. Cheers to our fellow wineries, harvest interns, and wine lovers! Harvest 2026; We’re gonna crush it!

🎥🍅🍷 Part two of my tasting with Executive Chef Jeff Kelly at Amaterra Kitchen & Social Club in downtown Bend takes us in a completely different direction, with one of the most vibrant and creative dishes I’ve tried this summer. ☀️ @amaterrabend

This time, we’re digging into Amaterra’s Tomato Salad:

🍅 Farm tomatoes
🌿 Shaved fennel
🍉 Watermelon
🍑 Peaches
🫐 Pickled blueberries
🥬 Grilled lettuce
🥜 Candied peanuts
🧀 Whipped burrata
🥒 Cucumber aguachile

Paired with their 2025 Willamette Valley Sauvignon Blanc. 🍷

There is a LOT happening on this plate, but what impressed me most was how intentionally everything works together.

The fresh and rich tomatoes create a yummy base, while the watermelonand peaches bring fresh sweetness. The shaved fennel adds brightness and texture, the pickled blueberries bring an acidic pop, and those candied peanuts “sneak in” this unexpected and welcome - sweet and savory crunch. 🤤

The richness of the whipped burrata plays well with the bright, refreshing cucumber aguachile, plus grilled lettuce bringing another layer of flavor and texture to the dish. 🥬

It’s fresh, creamy, sweet, savory, acidic and crunchy — and if you load your fork properly, all within the same bite. 🤤🍴

🍷 Plus the Sauvignon Blanc pairing is a win!

Its bright, refreshing notes complement the fruit, tomatoes and acidity throughout the salad while cutting through the richness of the burrata. It’s a pairing that feels perfectly curated for the summer season.

Chef Kelly and I also get into the thought process behind the dish, how some of these seemingly “unexpected” ingredients pair well together and how the wine pairing enhances the experience from bite to sip.

If you missed Part One, check out my review of Amaterra’s “Chicken-Fried” Pork Chop with braised collards, chorizo, spiced pecans, polenta and sweet pepper jam, paired with the 2022 XL Vineyard Syrah. 🐖🍷

Two very different dishes. Two thoughtful pairings. And a really fun look into Chef Kelly’s approach to food and wine at Amaterra. 👏🏻

Vineyard update! We are still in our Veraison phase, but the grapes are definitely getting plumper and more purple.

Our harvest interns are here making sure our cellar is squeaky clean, our first fruit is coming next week, and our whole Amaterra community is buzzing with excitement about our new vintage! We can’t wait to see what this year will taste like.

If you want to hear some serious cork-dork knowledge, visit us at either location for the full rundown of our wines and winemaking. Can’t wait to talk wine with you!
