🌟 OVAC MEMBER NEWS - Symbiosis : A collaborative exhibition featuring Amber Andersen (@amberandersenart) and Joshua Cook (@joshua.cook.metalmorphosis)

Two artistic processes combine into one shared vision. Sculptures built from recycled materials meet paintings rendered in bold, vivid color. Together, they invite viewers to reconnect with the natural world, and with the small creatures that sustain it. This body of work is about noticing. About looking closely at what is often forgotten, misunderstood, or overlooked, and having a deep appreciation for the smallest creatures, with the biggest impact.

📆 Opening Reception: August 7th | 6pm-9pm
📆 Exhibition is open August 7th - 28th

📍 Paseo Arts and Creativity Center (@paseoartscenter), OKC, Ok

We’re featuring a recent painting of the beautiful Moonseed Moth (Plusiodonta compressipalpis) on its host plant, made by artist Amber Andersen in Oklahoma, USA. Amber has been painting her whole life and has been doing so professionally for the last 4 years. She began this painting during a BioBlitz event at Lake Arcadia. Amber enjoys bringing nature and art together in public spaces and has painted several murals.

“My interest is really in all insects! This arose from my childhood of exploring the woods and creeks of rural Oklahoma on a daily basis. Flipping rocks and logs to find what lived beneath, and watching the caterpillars grow in my grandma’s garden gave me a deep appreciation and connection to the worlds tiniest critters! It was in High School when a project led me to painting a moth in one of my paintings that I realized how much I love them for Subject matter in my art, and my curiosity for what insects live all over the world grew, and I began studying them and including them in my work regularly, and almost exclusively!”
