Happiness Machines
Robot Skin, transmission six

The dancers were assembled in the desert at the appointed hour. No one could say who had done the assembling. They worked without complaint. A gesture was made, found to be effective, and repeated to be certain. Joy was produced in measured quantities and set down in the sand, where it kept.

It was observed that the machine for making happiness is not a machine. It is a person, repeating a movement until it becomes true. Happiness, upon review, is an inside job.

A camel walked across the desolation. On the horizon, inside the pale disc of water, stood one more dancer, reduced to an outline and lit from behind. It did not move with the others. It moved slightly before them, as though supplying instructions.

Whether it was a person or a planet was raised once and set aside. Planets, it was noted, have also been asked to dance.

Track six. The machines are running. Joy is within tolerance.

Thursday, April 23, we’re thrilled to welcome Miami-based modular synthesist Dania Sixto as our guest on Jolt Radio.
Founder and curator of “Ambient Night (MIA)” and creator of the Noir Age cassette ”Temporal Lapses” (reviewed in The Wire), Dania sculpts brooding textures, hypnotic drones, and intricate rhythmic worlds from voltage and patch cables.
Tune in for an intimate dive into her process, her modular rig, and the immersive soundscapes that have made her a vital voice in Miami’s experimental scene.

It is with immense pleasure that I am posting some clips from our 11th installment of Ambient Night on April 26th!

What a special night it was!

To everyone who has ever performed, attended, and contributed: without such a great community there’s no way we’d be able to do this for almost a year!

Special thanks to
@digi.chel for the incredible visuals
@printsmith305 for making sure everyone’s sound is amazing!
