Sometimes, it takes years to understand what we were really searching for.

Looking back, I can see a little more of the sadness I carried, the connection I longed for, and the places I went looking for a sense of belonging.

At the time, I didn’t understand it that way. I was just living, finding connection where I could, not realising what it was costing me.

Learning to understand your past isn’t about blaming the people in it, or judging the version of yourselves who were simply trying to find their way.

It’s about meeting those parts of yourself with a little more compassion.

Sometimes, beneath the choices we struggle to understand, there are needs we never learnt how to name, let alone meet.

Your kids are watching more than they’re listening.

The way you handle frustration. The way you speak when you’re tired. The way you come back after you’ve lost it. That’s the lesson they keep.

Our sons learn how to be a man by watching us. Our daughters learn what to accept from a man by watching us too.

Being a safe man doesn’t mean never feeling anger or hurt. It means knowing yourself well enough to notice what’s rising in you, understanding where it comes from, and choosing how you respond instead of letting it run the show.
