In Fall 2022, what was supposed to be a 3 month trip to Bali turned into 10 months.

I shared parts of it on my stories, but barely anything on my Instagram feed because, for the first time in a long time, I was truly living outside of my phone. Time slowed down there. I made lifelong friends, memories engraved in my heart, and built habits I didn’t know I needed.

That period changed me.

I learned how to sit with myself. How to trust myself. How to let myself feel my emotions instead of suppressing them. And for the first time in my life, I became fully confident in who I am, what I’m capable of, and what I can give back to myself, my family, the people I love, and everyone I meet along the way.

Bali gave me the space to reconnect with myself. To process grief, ambition, fear, and everything in between.

By month 10, I knew I wanted to pursue music full time no matter the consequences. I knew I would forever regret it if I never give it an actual shot. After all, I was the high school dj in Baghdad since I was 13 haha.

So instead of staying in Bali for another year, I packed my bags, settled everything, said goodbye to my friends and the island, and took a 40 hour flight back to New York. I made sure I landed on a weekend and had a gig booked that same night so it could truly feel like the beginning of this mad journey, with no looking back.

I landed in New York at 9pm and played a four hour set in Williamsburg that same night at midnight.

After all that time in Bali, one thing became crystal clear to me:

I want to live freely.
I want to experience joy deeply.
I want to believe in myself unapologetically.
And as the quote goes “be yourself, everyone else is taken.”

Life somehow feels both long and short at the same time. That’s the duality of it. And if we don’t appreciate what we already have, if we don’t start doing the things we genuinely love, we miss out on the very things that make life meaningful: joy, adventure, connection, and most importantly, love.

As my arm tattoo says:
live. love. create.

So yeah, welcome to my mad life journey, and thank you for being part of it all this time and THANK YOUUUU for all your genuine support along the way ♥️
