I never expected this little island to steal my heart, but boy it sure did. My summer at Burton 4-H center was truly something special! Thank you Georgia 4-H for giving me another chance to share my love for this organization with so many new (and some old) campers. Thank you Tybee Island for the sweetest memories, and showing me how beautiful simple things can be. And thank you to my crew, who helped make this summer perfect. I couldn’t have done it without you guys.

Our Fall cohort had a weekend bookended by events with Georgia Tech.

Friday was a fun afternoon at the National Archives and Records Administration. Our students had the chance to look at historically significant documents from the vault, including the engrossed copy of the Civil Rights Act and the chart on which two Army privates plotted mysterious aircraft activity in the moments before the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

The weekend ended with new friends and a pizza party. Moral of the story? Sometimes the best thing to do with your rivalries is set them aside. #TheBestSemester #DCdawgs

Our Fall students hit the ground running last week! We had a full week of activities and conversations to get our new Delta Hall residents up to speed.

On Tuesday we had the privilege of a staff led Capitol tour from some wonderful WSP alumni. We are so grateful for their engagement and opportunities like these are why WSP is #TheBestSemester

🍀 “I pledge my hands to larger service” is way more than just words in the 4-H pledge. It’s also the dedication, the commitment, and the difference one person can make in the lives of others. Just like Amiyah is doing to provide campers with the supplies they need for their week of camp. She gathers donations to keep a vending machine stocked with free supplies for campers. Her project has now distributed over 500 items. We are so proud of how Amiyah is making the best better through her incredible service project. 🍀

A summer of healing, full-circle moments, and love 🍀✨

I couldn't be more grateful for the connections I've made, the love I've received, and the experiences I've had. This is the most fulfilling job.. being able to lead and influence peers and young people while being fully myself and having fun! To my CAPs, thank you for making me feel whole again.. to EC thank you for being the support I've always needed, and to REN thank you for allowing me to love you and returning that love tenfold.

Thank you Rock Eagle for giving me the most magical summers of my life.

Year 2 - Empty tank, full heart.

To my second summer,
You were full of trials and tests, but once again proved to me that the magic of Rock Eagle can change lives! Forever grateful for the 5,000 I was able to be a part of serving and truly hope I left a lasting impact. Special shoutout to those of you campers who will be stalking my Instagram page when it’s time for you to apply! Seriously, I thank God for the opportunity to do what I love with the people I love each and every day for a summer. Thankful to each and everyone who poured into me this summer, whether they were spelling fun, Up on the Hilltop ™️, or anywhere in between; you all helped make a difference this summer. Finally, thank you to my two partners, Dorothy and Naomi. I love you ladies more than you will ever know, and thank you for putting up with this goofball for 7 weeks. Until we meet again, Rock Eagle, and may your magic forever continue to touch the lives of children.

🧡“The one with a summer of abundance”🧡 BSE ‘26 My heart will forever reside in the middle of nowhere Putnam county Georgia. A piece of land once sacred to the original people of this country, then owned by a man named Jiles Tompkins who then passed it on to his daughter Mary Ellen Tompkins Scott who used the land to raise her family. Since then Rock Eagle 4-H center was born and been used to raise families since 1955, but not how one would imagine. A family created by young dumb college kids who come together each summer to impact sweet children and make a difference. A family of choice rather than blood that somehow grows each year when a summer passes by in the flash of an eye. If the trees of Rock Eagle could speak I imagine they would tell of the children running, yelling, and playing. The walls of our cabins would tell of all the faces that have moved in and moved out in such a short 7 weeks filled with love, connection, tears, exhaustion, laughter, and victories big and small. The trails would talk of the countless tiny feet traveling through nature that walked excitedly or begrudgingly down its path. Each piece of this community tucked into Eatonton Georgia has such tremendous value, especially in a world so loud such blessings can be hard to find. Sometimes you have to stop and think of the small things that show what it is to know this program and the love of the people it brings. My heart is so full but a piece will forever be left behind in this summer, tucked away neatly into a piece of the white trail. For this I am eternally grateful🧡 HMFSARODBFCSFSTSBL

These are the “golden days”. Only 20 days of camp left, and that’s a hard pill to swallow. Week 2 was the sweetest reminder of how quickly time passes. It was full of laughter, teaching classes in the Herp lab again, shoes & ice?, and the absolute best reunions with some of the people I hold dearest to my heart🧡
