COUNTERCLOCKWISE / @paul_waak
27.09-11.10.2025 / @aktionshaus_
Curated by @lucie_van_freynhagen

Paul Waak’s exhibition *COUNTERCLOCKWISE* presented a retrospective featuring paintings and selected “new additions” in both senses of the word. As part of a curatorial concept developed specifically for the Aktionshaus, the horizon—which is otherwise usually perceived as rigid and fixed—is placed in a physical, artistic, and curatorial state of obliquity, thereby making room for all the inclinations that break through the art canon in complex ways.

Thank you so much Lucie, Lotte, Juri and Amaan🤍🤍🤍🤍

PSYCHOLOGY SESSION
🧘‍♀️ Your yoga mat might be THE place to meet your inner conflicts.

In psychodynamic psychotherapy, diagnostics don’t start with the symptom. A symptom isn’t a malfunction, it’s the visible tip of an unconscious inner conflict that’s currently active enough to cause real suffering.

Many depth psychologists work with a set of core conflicts defined by the OPD (Operationalized Psychodynamic Diagnostics), grounded in psychoanalytic theory and backed by empirical research.

These conflicts have shaped my therapeutic work profoundly. Over the next few weeks, I want to introduce each one to you here and show you how we can actually work with them in Yoga.

The 7 core conflicts:

1️⃣ Dependency vs. Individuation
2️⃣ Submission vs. Control
3️⃣ Need for Care vs. Self-Sufficiency
4️⃣ Self-Worth Conflict
5️⃣ Guilt Conflict
6️⃣ Oedipal Conflict
7️⃣ Identity Conflict

The important part: every one of these conflicts is relevant to every human being. It’s never a question of whether a conflict exists, only HOW each of us resolves these life themes in our own way.
Suffering shows up when our old solutions stop working.

And this is what I love about yoga. It offers both things at once. Awareness of which inner conflicts are currently wrestling inside us and the freedom to respond differently *here and now* than we once did back *there and then*.

📆 I’ll introduce each conflict, every week.
Send me your questions, I’d love to hear your own experiences <3

JUNO FRANCIS - "Melancholia"
(2025 / Italians Do It Better)

@junofrancis debut album was one of my favorite records of last year and one more gem released by @italiansdoitbetter.

Suffused with the ethos of New Wave and Synthpop, Juno Francis delivers here a full fifty minutes of well-oiled beats, synths and vocals, that knows exactly what it wants to do and does it masterfully.

Mysterious, cool, danceable. Explores various corners of Synthpop, from reminiscing of the 80's to the current day. The production got a touch of Justice to it, the way the record pays tribute to the classics in a modern frame. But Juno Francis undeniably has her own style, with soothing vocals that give the album a dreamlike quality, and songwritting that makes the time fly by.
