“Good trouble + Good birding = Freedom Birders.” We need your support to create and travel on the first-ever "Freedom Birders Trail," which follows an inspired route of the Freedom Riders. This journey will connect the historic movement of people, the observation of wildlife, and the ongoing story of the land, starting in Washington, D.C., and finishing in New Orleans. Your donations will make this project a reality. Donations will go directly towards funding the trip and sustaining the project. Please enjoy the new graphics as well! FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE. Greater DC Metro Area. – April 17, 2024 – Amplify the Future Inc. proudly announces its fiscal sponsorship of Black Birders Week 2024. Now in its fifth year, Black Birders Week celebrates the invaluable contributions of Black birders, naturalists, and outdoor enthusiasts to the natural world. From May 26th to June 1st, 2024, participants worldwide will engage in virtual and in-person events under the theme "Wings of Justice: Soaring for Change."

“Since 2020, Black Birders Week has demonstrated how the Black experience goes beyond trauma; it includes joy, pride, resistance, strength, and style. I'm proud we can have this relationship with the current organizers to Amplify the Future of Black Birders Week.” – Tykee James, Co-founder and Chair, Amplify the Future

Black Birders Week 2024 will feature a diverse array of activities, including bird walks, educational content, talks, and community panel discussions. Participants will engage with Black leaders and experts in the birding community, learning about local bird conservation efforts and exploring the intersection of birding, Black communities, Black culture, and environmental justice. As part of this partnership, Amplify the Future Inc. will facilitate tax-deductible donations to support Black Birders Week. These contributions will enable the organizers to expand their initiatives, hold more events, create educational programs, and provide opportunities for Black birders and naturalists to connect with nature and each other.

Thanks for hosting @brookfieldzoo! If you're curious about how my career started, what I'm doing now, and what I hope to do next, RSVP NOW and tune in on Wednesday, February 7th, 204, at 5 pm CST.

More from their website:

"ZAP! Conservationists in Action connects students with diverse groups conducting conservation work locally, nationally, and globally. Through free virtual presentations, participants are able to learn from and inquire about ways that these conservationists positively impact the environment.

Aligned with the history and heritage months throughout the year, these programs provide an opportunity for underrepresented voices to share their stories, culture, and personal impact on the students who may identify with them and their lived experiences."

We are excited to share the final results of NJ Audubon's World Series of Birding in May, as well as some of our team's bird photos from their all-day birding effort. Our final count was 120 species, and we have a great team photo with supporting views of a Common Yellowthroat, Lesser Yellowlegs, and an Osprey!

Please help thank the team who participated in this friendly birding competition to demonstrate our commitment to B.I.R.D. in action - meaning we are Beginner-minded, Inclusive, Recognizers, and Deliberate.

If you would like to support our growth, please check the link in our bio to donate. We are raising money to embark on an inspired journey of the Freedom Riders, starting in Washington, D.C. and ending in New Orleans, where we will see historic places that connect people, wildlife, and land all along the way.

Thank you! #JUSTbirding

Organized by @njaudubon, the World Series of Birding is a fundraising platform and event where birding teams bird all day in New Jersey on Saturday, May 13th. Every dime we raise amplifies the future of the Freedom Birders project and brings us one day closer to funding a Freedom Birders Trip, which will follow an inspired route taken by the Freedom Riders from Washington, D.C. to New Orleans!

Please follow the link in our bio to support. Our fundraising goal is $3,000

Although some folks consider this as a birding "competition" we remain grounded in our values to have fun and JUST B.I.R.D.
