POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

For author and publisher @amy_m_le survival has been part of her story from the very beginning.

In her memoir, From Broken to Brave, Amy looks back at a life shaped by war, illness, displacement, identity, trauma, family, and the determination to keep moving forward.

Amy escaped the Vietnam War at age five. One of her clearest memories is arriving on a Malaysian island after her family burned the small boat that had carried them to safety. Her mother placed Amy on a piece of wood while family members swam her to shore.

That escape was only one fight for survival.

Amy was born with a congenital heart defect and struggled to eat, breathe, and grow. After reaching the United States, she was taken to Seattle Children’s Hospital, where she underwent the open-heart surgery that helped give her a future.

Growing up brought new challenges. Amy found herself caught between Vietnamese cultural expectations and the American life unfolding around her. As a teenager, she struggled with discrimination, belonging, rebellion, and periods when homelessness and serious consequences were frighteningly close.

Years later, storytelling gave Amy a way to examine her roots.

After her mother died in 2017, Amy began researching her family history. That work became the foundation for her autobiographical fiction and eventually led her to tell her own story.

There was still one piece she wasn’t ready to write.

A traumatic experience from college remained incomplete in Amy’s memory until she reconnected with her former college roommate decades later. Their conversations filled in details Amy had long been missing. With that final piece in place, she realized she was ready to finish her memoir.

From Broken to Brave is divided into two parts. “Broken” explores the experiences that tested Amy throughout her life. “Brave” focuses on what those experiences taught her and encourages others to continue moving forward.

That idea now extends into Amy’s work as a publisher. Through @quillhawkpublishing she helps authors bring their own stories to life.

Thank you to Ruth Klein @ruth.klein and her wonderful team for having me on “The Book Club with Ruth Klein.”

What a heartfelt and meaningful conversation we shared about the power of storytelling. I truly believe we all have stories worth telling, but to tell them authentically, we must learn to quiet the distractions, embrace vulnerability, and speak from the heart. ♥️

A special acknowledgment to author Amy M. Le @amy_m_le for bringing such meaningful stories to life through her writing. It was a pleasure discussing her work and the possibility of one day bringing her story from the pages of a book to the screen.

Grateful for the opportunity to share this conversation and for the warm hospitality from everyone on the lot. Thank you again for having me!

🌊 Our Journeys has opened in Oklahoma City!

We’ve left OKC with full hearts after an unforgettable opening weekend for Our Journeys. From the conversations shared to the moments of recognition, reflection, and connection throughout the exhibition, it was beautiful to witness just how much these stories meant to the community.

There was something especially powerful about returning to a city where we first came to listen and record community stories in 2023, and now seeing those relationships continue to grow. We felt so warmly welcomed throughout our time here, and we’re grateful to everyone who came to gather, share a piece of themselves, and remind us why preserving these histories matters. 💛

It is an incredible honor to have Our Journeys housed at the Oklahoma History Center, where Vietnamese American refugee and diaspora stories can take their place within the larger story of Oklahoma. Our Journeys may travel from city to city, but each community leaves something behind with us. Thank you, Oklahoma City, for becoming part of this journey.

💛 This exhibition is made possible with support from the Henry Luce Foundation, New Jersey Council for the Humanities, Asian Women Giving Circle, and our community donors recognized on the Wall of Hope.

Local support is provided by the Asian District Cultural Association, Inasmuch Foundation, Greater Oklahoma City Asian Chamber of Commerce, and Quill Hawk Publishing Company.

Our Journeys remains on view at the Oklahoma History Center Monday to Saturday, from 10AM to 5 PM through January 4, 2027. 🌊

Quixotic Heights Podcast welcomes Norb Caoili this Saturday, September 19, for a fun conversation beyond @seahawks fandom!

What happens when you take a filmmaker, a die-hard Seattle Seahawks fan, a camera, and a whole lot of 12th Man energy? You get @norbcam!

Our next episode airs Saturday, on Norb Caoili's birthday. Many of us know him as a filmmaker, content creator, family man, proud Filipino American, and one of the most recognizable members of the Seahawks faithful.

How did he get started? What's the origin story behind the reaction videos, music videos, comedy sketches, creative filmmaking, and a community of fans who have followed him through the victories, the heartbreaks, and all those moments when being a Seahawks fan tests your blood pressure?

Put on your blue and green, raise that 12 flag, and get ready for Norbcam.

The Quixotic Heights Podcast streams on YouTube, Spotify, Amazon Music, iHeartRadio, Apple Podcasts, and Audible.

Vietology had the best time catching up with @amy_m_le back in August. Life is hard, friendships are hard, broken hearts are hard, and being hard on yourself is hard. If you want to read a memoir on all of the struggles Amy has gone through and how she was able to overcome them, please grab a copy of her book! Our lunch went by much too quickly, there were too many things to discuss. Until the next meet. 💛

🌊 Oklahoma City: today, we arrive.

After months of traveling, gathering, listening, and carrying stories from community to community, Our Journeys: A Traveling Exhibition has arrived at the Oklahoma History Center.

But in many ways, this isn’t our first arrival.

In 2023, VBP came to Oklahoma City to listen and record the stories of this community. Today, we return with an exhibition carrying stories of migration, memory, resilience, and belonging from across the Vietnamese diaspora—and we’re ready to keep listening. 💛

This stop is about more than bringing Our Journeys to Oklahoma. It’s about reconnecting, creating space for reflection, and continuing to grow this shared archive together.

✨ Join us TODAY for our Opening Reception!
🗓️ Saturday, September 12 at 3pm
📍 Oklahoma History Center Museum — Sam Noble Gallery
800 Nazih Zuhdi Drive, Oklahoma City, OK 73105

✨ Experience
• Stories from the Vietnamese diaspora across generations
• An interactive map tracing journeys of migration and memory
• A special Oklahoma-focused exhibition component honoring the stories and history of the local Vietnamese American community
• Food, conversation, and community as we celebrate the opening together

Our Journeys will remain on view through January 4, 2027.

In 2023, we came to listen. Today, we return to share, and to listen again.
Oklahoma City, we’re here. Come gather with us, step into the stories, and add yours to the journey. 🌊

I honestly don’t know how to process this weekend. If you had told me five years ago I would spend two days at a writing conference connecting with old and new friends, talking about work I had written, and being treated as an expert on anything (much less podcasting), I’d have called you nuts. But that’s exactly what happened. Wildly thankful for the community I’ve found and for the ride.
Here’s to whatever’s next.

You don’t have to work harder.

You need to lead with greater intention.

Pause.
Reflect.
Reset.
Refocus.

Because sustainable leadership isn’t about doing more.

It’s about leading in a way that allows you, and the people you lead, to thrive.

What’s one thing you could stop carrying this week?

The books are arriving around the world. ❤️🌎

There is something incredibly special about seeing The Kindness Advantage in the hands of people who believe in the message.

Joe Vitale—who wrote the foreword—now has his copy. Moe Rock has his. And others are beginning to receive theirs too.

And yes… seeing the book I poured so much into finally becoming real is a pretty amazing feeling.

But this was never meant to be just a book.

It’s a message about how kindness can strengthen relationships, improve the way we lead, change the way we connect—and ultimately make our world a little better.

This is the beginning of something much bigger.

The Kindness Advantage is here.

If you believe kindness matters, I’d love for you to be part of it. ❤️

📖 Available now on Amazon.
