Participatory performance yesterday on the parade ground @chelseaual, part of @eva_sajovic’s project ‘Rise and Fall of a Temple @chelseaspace. So good to see so many participants in costumes by Eva adorned with paper masks, crowns, épaulettes, sashes and more by @csm_exchange members. Thanks to the makers and well done Eva and all those involved in the project. That new human centred temple replacing the old one never looked better. 📸 @amychenfly

Didn’t plan to do this but we did. It’s always good to have a plan so you can derail it. Plaiting willow bark didn’t stop us from collecting stories however, an activity wonderfully facilitated by @juliannapuszta1, which will be included in a forthcoming publication launched at a public event and exhibition on May 30th at the Chrisp Street Market’s maker space. Work produced by the @csm_exchange members will be in theshow which will then move to @poplarunion. Come visit us, be part of the story. Info on the project and event in the previous post and bio.

What do we keep? What do we let go of? What do we move on with? Questions to ask ourselves as the @csm_exchange project is coming to end at the maker space @chrispstreete14 and moving to @poplarunion. To mark this we’re planning a public event - an exhibition, workshops and book launch on May 30th, 12-6pm. Come see us then! There will also be 5 more workshops sessions in the maker space ahead of this event, 1:30 to 4:30pm, on Thursdays April 30th and May 7th, Wednesdays May 13th and 20th, and Thursday May 28th. See you then, or on at the exhibition on Saturday 30th.

Another gathering, this time around eggs. Making, eating, sharing. For this one, I chose the egg as a metaphor for something whole. A place where we can all fit. Ab ovo — Latin for “from the egg,” from the beginning. A form we all know. Nourishing, perfect. The same in a series, yet each one different. No sides, no angles, just an enigma that keeps giving us more to explore. Together with @yenchao.lynx in her studio, and @liangjung_chen , we transformed the space into one evening’s experience - a collaborative reflection on the egg. A beautiful gathering around food as material, with more to come. Forever grateful to @mark.otog for always helping me in such ventures.

Folk frolicks yesterday, channelling mummers and all things carnivalesque while making outfits, props and paper beads (for charms), during a workshop beautifully delivered by @earthkinology. Plenty of ideas for more making for our forthcoming display @csm_exchange’s maker space. Ideas generated will also feed into prep for @eva_sajovic’s performance on May 15th on the parade ground, part of Rise and Fall of a Temple @chelseaual #ChelseaSpace #ual.

Art and Materials Lab - Material Innovation Award 2025 has been conferred upon Amy Hsu Tzu Chen @amychenfly. Congratulations. Her work distinguished itself through its material sensitivity and innovative approach. A new collaboration with Blackdot @____blackdot has been inaugurated, celebrating material exploration and daring experimentation in contemporary jewellery and design. Art and Materials Lab is an esteemed curated platform dedicated to exploring how materials influence culture, sustainability, and design—integrating craft and technology as interconnected narratives. Our journal adopts a perspective that bridges laboratory research with lived manufacturing experiences, investigating what transpires when textiles initiate sensing the environment "for" us via embedded systems of fibres, sensors, and computational processes—while also addressing issues related to durability, privacy, and electronic waste. Amy Hsu Tzu Chen's "Exploring the Soft Resilience Within" provides an essential counterpoint: movement is not limited to electronic devices. Through techniques such as crochet, weaving, and wire and everyday flexible-material wrapping, her work invites tactile engagement, demonstrating that responsiveness can arise from structural discipline and order. #artandmaterials #artandmaterialslab #design #designresearch #materials #materialexperiments #Sustainable #experiments #materialdesign #journal #journals #writing #research #academic #academicresearch

As @l_d_f_official comes to an end, we look back on a season shaped by material, care, and quiet acts of making. This year’s exhibition was also guided by the generosity and insight of our award judges. Special thanks to one of our judges, @whiskeyciao, for the time, care, and thoughtful perspectives brought to the selection process. We’re also grateful to our award partners @artandmaterials_lab and @autor_contemporary_jewelry for supporting this year’s programme and helping us celebrate material innovation and emerging voices in contemporary jewellery. We’re honoured to recognise six makers whose work moved us in distinct ways, from narrative depth to material innovation. Congratulations to all award recipients, and heartfelt appreciation to every exhibiting artist who made this exhibition so rich, generous, and alive. 📹 @shot.by.amelie Artists: @toooomyng @alessia_capra_ceramics @adc.company @amychenfly @arielzhu_77 @ash.pales @bocen_zhou @caitlin.froud @alwaysmia_ @designerchuxin @daisybrimblejewellery @dd__k @digital_craft_in_architecture @do.glet @studiomerriman @estudio_geo @annewufei @__genechen @georgiazhai_jewellery @gio.a.design @helenapalmeira @artbyhyunah_h @jeanneefrancis @jesandherwork @jesssicasunna @atelier.lu @fragrant.metal @holidaypee @min.nlee @danbroo @renderdistanc3 @laetitziacampbell @baibaio0o @quduoduo @sophie_clqqq @lixuanhuan @luna.xue.fineart @mair.jewellery @megumiohata @mengyuanxia1 @ivorym_jewellery miyukiguo @neve.beill.ceramics @ppping_c @erica_galley salmanarchives @sarahdrewjewellery @aset.work @human_hong1 @shih_han_chou @11art_glass @sito_ong @sofia.venetucci @tianye_an @557ttttttt @tongniu @wanyan_wu_jewellery @sori_sosuki @thecurioofixy @claire.xu.1206 @ceramilin @anyform.studio @yingyingqiu_ @brightoff @zhaoyouyang @yoyojinxx @yuchiceramics @zxzjelry @lesamisdelav @szifa_n As one chapter ends, another begins. POP UP STORE at @88681_cafe.dance.studio (Tokyo, Japan) Group Exhibition “Hold it together as we fall apart” at @teapsyproject (London, UK) POP UP STORE at @marvincorner (Fukui, Japan) 圖13-圖16｜2025年6月 Group Exhibition “画画画の画” at @tasekai_inc （Tokyo, Japan） 圖17-圖20｜2024年10月 POP UP STORE at @marvincorner (Fukui, Japan) —— 図1は、2022年に初めて個展を開催したときの写真です。 POP UP STORE at @88681_cafe.dance.studio （東京・日本） 図5–図6｜2025年12月 グループ展「Hold it together as we fall apart」at @teapsyproject （ロンドン・イギリス） 図7–図12｜2025年10月 POP UP STORE at @marvincorner （福井・日本） 図13–図16｜2025年6月 グループ展「画画画の画」at @tasekai_inc （東京・日本） 図17–図20｜2024年10月 POP UP STORE at @marvincorner
