In today’s Women of Faith series, my friend, Amy Elaine Martinez, shares her story of redemption in Christ despite the crossroads she faced before her. 🙏

Amy Elaine prays her story meets you in a place of need or a place where you can extend mercy and grace to others when they need it most.

Here’s a sneak peek:

“Sitting in my favorite chair, coffee in hand, I began to read a blog series you might be familiar with––yep, it was none other than Sara Claudia’s Women of Faith Series. But before I knew it, I fell down the rabbit hole of comparison. As I read each beautiful story of hardships overcome and finding God in the harshest of realities, I felt grossly inadequate to tell my own. Life had dealt some harsh blows to these incredible women, yet against the odds, they overcame the unprovoked adversity thrust upon them in the most remarkable ways.

Dear God, Be Merciful

Me: ‘That’s not my story, God; in my story, I’m the perpetrator of the harm done, the sin committed. I was the one who left the trail of destruction behind me. Help, I have nothing worthy to share…’

God: ‘Your story is worthy of being told because I intervened.’”

Sometimes it takes a day or month, or months at a time to share your story…and some stories must wait their turn to be shared because it’s not quite time yet. Other times, it’s still too raw for some places and just the right amount of pain point for other scenarios…the Spirit knows when to give the nudge or give us the grace to hold our tongue for the time being…while I’m not ready to share parts of my story and other parts aren’t mine to share at all…I’m grateful for the freedom to share bits and pieces as I am ready… these paintings by @djhejtmanek spoke volumes to the depth of soul when I first laid eyes on them…they touched the deepest parts of me in the most profound ways…as I read the beautiful prophetic words given with each piece 🖼️, I knew they were mine…when I couldn’t shake it, I ordered them without worrying if I might miss out…someone else buying them first…no chance…I knew they were for me, painted by the vessel used to convey God’s heart for me in a season of brokenhearted-ness only He could speak into—only He could touch the right spot to bring the healing needed…thank you DJ for listening & painting God’s heart for us…then a few pics of a beautiful weekend…a reentry after not speaking the past 1.5 years while walking my mom Home & walking through the grief of it all afterwards…a small, intimate gathering of women who let me be my imperfect, messy self while teaching them about trailblazing & the deeper truths of the Beatitudes—given to us who have eyes to see & ears to hear the beauty of all God is—made known by His hand at work in our lives…in the here & now & for the there & then of the Kingdom…friend, there’s been a lot going on behind the scenes in my life & behind the little 🟧🟨⬜️ you see here…but I wanted to give you a glimpse as I work out the when & what & where of sharing the deeper wonders I’ve found in this wilderness season I’ve been living & roaming about in…🤫 I’ll likely be quiet the next few weeks as the anniversaries of loss ring loudly throughout May…the firsts and lasts resounding the reality of just how sacred life and death truly are…may hope ring louder…see you on the other side. 🩵 AEM #amwriting #monthofmay #artlover

Be not afraid.
3 little words.
One big ask.

Take 5 now.

Listen.
Breathe.
Reconnect.

What I’m learning…
Being fearless, not being afraid, is an act of worship. As we wait on God to move, being fearless means trusting God to work when we can’t see a way.

Recently, I commented on a post by @written to speak and then shared it to my stories. To my surprise, Tanner reached out offering to send me a frame-able print of the message from the post.

Well, of course I said yes! 💯

I also said I’d love to share his work with y’all! So, that’s what I’m doing…

He graciously sent some extras so I could share them with you. Follow these steps and I’ll pick 2 of you to share these with. I know his words will encourage your heart on the hard, yet holy days we’ve been talking about lately. 💛 AEM

A LONG ENDURANCE
“It is always hard to see the purpose in wilderness wanderings until after they are over.” John Bunyan, The Pilgrim’s Progress.

These beautiful watercolors are from @ruthchousimons “Pilgrim: 25 Ways God’s Character Leads Us Onward.” I love how Ruth calls this our “long endurance.” What truth those words hold. Indeed, I’m slowly making my way through this devotional learning more about what I like to call “the adventure of a lifetime—Journeying with Jesus.”

Hindsight gives us the grace to look back on our hard days & see God’s faithfulness was hovering our whole way through.

The wilderness is where we see the goodness of God in the land of living. Though we may take this walk by ourselves, we are NEVER ALONE.

More on this in an upcoming episode of The Grace Frontier Podcast…it’s been a long journey back to podcasting after losing my Mom, but I’m ready. A LOT happened while I was away—a prodigal come home, grief turned to joy, words lost & found again with deeper meaning, and the rediscovery of a message long on my heart, burning fresh and anew.

Sweet Friend, fellow Pioneer, if you’re on a long journey in a wilderness in uncharted territory so foreign to you, know this:
I’d love to walk beside you for a moment to encourage your heart toward God…to boost your spirit with endurance & hope to keep going because one day you too will look back & find this same truth—God was there all along. His promises are “yes and amen,” He is faithful even when we are not.

His love endures for a lifetime so we can endure the long paths through this life on our way to Eternity.

Xoxo- AEM 💛

Grace paves the way & Victory is your destiny. It’s time to begin this conversation again. I hope you’ll join me for new podcast episodes as they roll out in mid-March.

In the meantime, I’ll be RE-sharing bits & pieces of the series we started this time last year in hopes of reviving your heart to get back on The Grace Frontier with me as we fearlessly move forWARD, onWARD, upWARD, & toWARD God in the here & now and ultimately to our heavenly home for the there & then He’s promised. #longroadhome #thegracefrontierpodcast #amyelaineministries #endurance #fearless

“Something happens and we start unearthing what God planted in our heart of hearts. This point of pain reveals a beautiful bloom, an exquisite flower grown only in the soil of grief. A rare kind of gratitude known only when we find what we thought was lost forever emerges from bitterness broken up, an ungrateful heart giving way to the goodness of God.

“This is what I found in the few short weeks at the end of my mother’s life. After wrestling with an ungrateful heart, feeling like Alzheimer’s (and on some occasions, God) had stolen my sweet mama’s mind, personality, and her last good years, we were given the gift of a new diagnosis. About six weeks before she passed, we discovered she was having absent seizures, and the doctors prescribed a new medication. Miraculously, her sweet disposition returned. We had the chance to reconnect and spend time with her reading the Bible, singing hymns at her requests; we even laughed a little.

“The last thing my mom ever said to me are the sweetest words I’ve ever heard. She looked me straight in the eyes, punctuating every single syllable, saying, ‘I have always loved you, Amy.’”

This is for the one praying for breakthrough (maybe it’s you?). Feeling the overwhelming weight of the dark and wondering if anything good can grow here.

It’s the biggest honor to share @amyelainewrites’s story this week on Begin Within: A Gratitude Series. Amy Elaine is a Victory Girl, Bible teacher, former radio host, & Word junkie who loves Jesus wildly and helps heart-shattered lives become whole again in Christ. Let’s take a peek at her story:

“There are times when gratitude will be the hardest thing to harvest in the garden of our hearts. Yet as we dig deep, uprooting what’s been growing wild, without our attention—somehow, this tending of our garden within becomes our way back. Beyond the stench of our bad attitudes, anger, and unwillingness to see anything good in our situations, God is still at work. Because long ago, a seed was planted, for such a time as this, to bloom in the dark while we weren’t watching.

“As the holiday season approaches, I’m reminded of the gift I give my sister-in-law each year, an amaryllis bulb. Recently, she shared her secret for their beautiful blooms—she places them in the dark for a few months. Nothing gives her more joy than when the beautiful blooms break out in December. Much like these bulbs, that grow best when placed in a cool, dark place for a season, we too are being prepared to bloom while we’re in what feels like our darkest days. At just the right moment, often with a guttural cry, our own breakthrough begins.”

I promise you won’t want to miss a word of Amy Elaine’s story! Find it on Begin Within via my bio, @theuncommonnormal. And follow Amy Elaine at @amyelainewrites because this girl’s words are on fire!

Sometimes when we post happy pictures it can feel like we post the highlights, but it can leave people with a sense that people live a perfect life. But the backstory is an opportunity to testify of God’s greatness.

I’m grateful for an opportunity to rest this past week and have sweet fellowship with other authors and friends, while I also worked pretty intensively on my dissertation. Behind the scenes, there has been a lot of turmoil in the past couple of months that has made it difficult to focus on school. But God. He is faithful and met me each day this past week with time in His word that fit right into what I was working on in my dissertation.

When life feels overwhelming it is an opportunity to go deeper with God that we don’t want to miss. And He meets us right at our point of need in such a miraculous way. Thank you Amy, Brenda, and Betsy for your sweet friendship and encouragement. Betsy, it was such a joy to meet you and make a new friend! #Grateful #P31writers Amy Elaine Ward Martinez Brenda Bradford Ottinger Betsy Barnhill Falvey

Territory - we think about this in terms of land ownership, but what does it have to do with prayer?

As my good friend, Amy Elaine, shares with us this week - everything, territory has EVERYTHING to do with prayer. Identifying our territory is one of our first steps to overcoming with the power of prayer. Amy is the author of “Becoming a Victory Girl,” and she's helping us take the next step towards claiming victory in our lives because we all have one or more areas where we need victory. What area is it for you?

Give this some thought as you press play on this episode today. And spoiler alert for whatever difficulty you're facing... Love wins! We're talking all about this, too, and a few more things
