On Sunday July 12th, 2026 we celebrated the @mottainai_santafe 2 year anniversary party with our first proper High Desert Broadcast pop-up featuring our hats, scarves, t-shirts, risographs, and our new “awe and wonder” sticker, mini-art print, and magic ticket machine!

We wanted to thank everyone that came out and supported, it was so wonderful and we appreciated every minute of it.

Meet the team at Hecho A Mano! We wanted to take a moment to introduce the team and to say thank you to all the patrons, followers and collectors. We appreciate your support and the time you take to tune into what we are doing, to get closer to the work coming from all the amazing artists that show at Hecho A Mano.

The Team:

Frank Rose: Creative Conductor
Frank is the founder and director of Hecho a Mano, where he curates exhibitions, builds unlikely connections, and somehow keeps everything moving at once. He believes deeply in artists, handmade objects, and doing things the hard way—on purpose.

Martha Traer: Creative Conduit
Martha is the co-director and believes that art is for the people, all people. She strives to promote an environment at Hecho A Mano where this is felt. Supporting artists and bringing people together to lift up voices and vision is crucial in creating a more beautiful world and placing more beautiful things in it.

Becky Smith: Creative Connector
Becky is our weekend Gallarista who brings all kinds of random life and art business experience to this phase of Hecho a Mano’s life and mission. Becky brings chapters of creative experience with her, having had her own gallery in NYC, played farfisa in a band and has recently written her first historical novel.

Amy Calzaretta: Creative Caretaker
Amy is responsible for putting the care and craft into packaging and shipping all the wonderful art purchased at Hecho A Mano. It’s fascinating to see the diverse destinations where the artwork is shipped. It’s a reminder that art truly connects us.

Kara Duval: Creative Co-Host
Kara thrives on unexpected connections, leaping from rowdy Russian folk musicians at the Texas Renaissance Festival to darkroom alchemy, photography, and dance. She co-founded Underland Dance and balances improvisational movement with dark chocolate, cats, and the conviction that she already lives in the best place on Earth. Kara is the co-host of A Creative Excuse Podcast with husband Frank Rose.

What an adorable, sweet group last night at Hecho A Mano! Thanks to everyone who came out & brought the joy! We learned how to make basic woven Shaker hearts and a beekeeping friend shared the fun fact that St. Valentine’s is also the patron St of bees! 🐝 Kara & I are scheming up more workshops at @hechoamanoorg so stay tuned! ❤️💗 Happy Valentine’s ❤️
