In 2016 I had the pleasure of visiting Los Angeles with writer friends for that year’s @awpwriter conference. We walked the streets, ate fresh guacamole (way too many times), saw @adamlambert at the Orpheum, and skipped a day of lectures to head to the Santa Monica Pier.

I’m not sure how to respond to such a tragedy, only to say that I join so many across the U.S. in sending my thoughts and prayers to the people of Los Angeles. That I will donate to the proper emergency response teams. And that my heart goes out to a people and a place who have provided decades of the joy of storytelling to people all across the world.
