Writing, playing & singing since 1983...2nd memoir Girl To Country out now!

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

The last time we hosted Amy Rigby, for her first memoir, “Girl to City,” at the Wrecking Bar, she brought the house down. We’re delighted to welcome her back, this time with our friends at Criminal Records Atlanta, where we’ve shared some of our most memorable events over the years.

A beloved singer-songwriter with a devoted following and a sharp eye for the humor and heartbreak of everyday life, Rigby has been making fiercely independent music since her acclaimed 1996 solo debut, “Diary of a Mod Housewife.” Her new memoir, “Girl to Country,” picks up where “Girl to City” left off, following a newly divorced musician and mother as she trades New York for Nashville, navigates love and motherhood, and figures out how to keep making art on her own terms.

Join us at Criminal Records on Saturday, October 24, at 4 PM, when Rigby will sit down with Atlanta music journalist Chad Radford for a conversation about the book, followed by a live musical performance and signing. The event is free and open to the public, and copies of “Girl to Country” will be available for purchase.#atlantaevents #atlantamusic #criminalrecords #amyrigby #acappellabooks

Yesterday Emily and I boarded a flight to Oslo wondering where Eric and Amy were. We then got the call that we needed to get off the plane, due to an error with Eric’s passport (his passport was NOT expired, that is a false claim made incorrectly by a Norwegian news source, his passport was still valid on the day of travel).
At any rate, we were sadly forced to abort our travel to Norway, and have had to cancel the tour.
We are incredibly sad as we had looked forward to this since July.
If you have purchased a ticket we have been told they will be fully refunded and we do hope to make it back to play next year.
While we are regrouping, we thank you all for your patience and understanding. Being a musician in this day and age comes with a whole new wealth of challenges, hurdles and obstacles. So far, 2026 is a record breaking year (outside of the pandemic) for cancelled tours. We know we are not alone here, and so are extra thankful to your understanding and patience while we all fight the good fight to continue brining live music to you as best we can.
Thanks for your continued support and love, we promise to do everything to make it worth it! All our love and gratitude ❤️💔❤️‍🩹

INFORMATION - what’s it all about? First, Lassie is the band I’ve been playing in along with Emily Winng for the past year or so - check out @lassiemusik for more info and follow!

We will be opening for and playing with Wreckless Eric with Amy Rigby. I play Synth Bass and Emily drums along with Amy who plays guitar and a few songs both old and new.

Wreckless Eric is the artist that wrote and recorded the classic Whole Wide World in 1977, and was one of the original Stiff Records Artists (alongside Ian Dury (who was his drummer at one point), Elvis Costello and Nick Lowe)). The song is one of those that you think you don’t know it but you definitely do. Covered by The Monkees, the Lightning Seeds, The Proclaimers and countless others.
Eric has since continued churning out unbelievably amazing records under the names The Len Bright Combo, Le Beat Group Electrique, The Donovan Of Trash, The Hitsville House Band, and with his wife as one half of Wreckless Eric & Amy Rigby.

Amy Rigby has to be one of the greatest songwriters from America.
She formed pre-Americana country band Last Roundup (Rounder) and Richard Hells favorite girl group the Shams (Matador) in downtown NYC before launching a solo career with 90s classic album Diary Of A Mod Housewife. She’s just released her second memoir, “Girl to County” which is an incredible read, following her post DYI punk years in NY to her time in Nashville and beyond.

These three people have become family to me, and I’m delighted to be going to Norway with them, a country that has been my home away from home for so many years! So I hope to see some of you showing them the same love you’ve so generously given to me - which I’m forever grateful for ♥️♥️♥️

Finally got to day three! Had to split this day- didn’t get lots of film early on as was wrapped up in the music (as it should be)

Such a blooming joy, from year one to here it’s just got better and better every year - and everyone is so friendly and fun.

⚡JUST ANNOUNCED⚡

Thursday, November 12 – @laurarcantrell with guest @amymrigby
Laura Cantrell has spent more than 25 years creating thoughtful, beautifully crafted country music. Since releasing her acclaimed debut, Not the Tremblin’ Kind, in 2000, she has released six studio albums, toured extensively throughout the US, UK, and Ireland, and performed at the Grand Ole Opry, on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, A Prairie Home Companion, and Mountain Stage. BBC legend John Peel called her debut “my favorite record of the last ten years, and possibly my life.” Her music has also been featured by The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, NPR, and the BBC.
Amy Rigby writes about getting by and getting older from the perspective of an ardent rock music fan. A veteran of New York’s East Village scene, she played in Last Roundup and the Shams before launching her solo career with 1996’s Diary of a Mod Housewife.

Wednesday, December 16 – @bothsidesnowshow A Joni Mitchell & Leonard Cohen Story Concert with @daniellewertzmusic and @robbie_schaefer
“Two singer-songwriters sit on the edge of a cliff…"
With these words, we are drawn into the world of Both Sides Now - a theatrical concert that explores the music and lives of long-time friends and one-time lovers, Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen. Created by, and starring Robbie Schaefer and Danielle Wertz, the cabaret-style performance traverses decades alongside songs such as A Case of You, Hallelujah, Big Yellow Taxi, Suzanne, and many more. Both Sides Now is at once a piece of the 60’s and 70’s, and of right now -- offering us a story about the messiness of being human, of lives persistently lived at the edge of growth, and of finding the courage to turn toward one another, again and again.
