It’s giving love at first sight 😍✨

Team Tandem were so excited to exclusively reveal the cover of The Twice Cursed Heir by Venetia Constantine at our Tandem Weekender 2026. We were joined by Venetia at our Tandem Weekender 2025 to celebrate her amazing debut, The Last Starborn Seer, so it really was a very special honour for us to reveal her second book to our Weekenders.

Isn’t she a beauty? Everyone GASPED 🥰

This is your next fantasy obsession if you want:
💚 Enchanted forests
💚 Epic quest
💚 Ancient curses
💚 Mythical creatures
💚 Corruption arc
💚 Love triangle

We were so lucky to get a sneak peek at the first chapter and can’t wait to get our hands on the full book in March 2027.

Last week, I had such a wonderful time at Tandem Weekender 3.0! It feels like the week just flew by. For the last three years, this has been my absolute favourite time of year. This has been the highlight of my year! I’ve made friends since the first weekender, and we’re still in touch. Year after year, I’ve made new bookish friends. During the first tandem retreat, I went in not knowing if I’d make friends or get along with everyone, but somehow, I ended up with people I’m proud to call friends. It has been such a joy meeting new friends this year! I have been truly impressed by their creativity, and everyone has been so lovely.

I am so grateful to the Tandem team for their amazing hard work and for bringing all the readers together. It is no small feat to manage something so large, and they do it year after year with such a smile.

I hope you are not too tired of seeing my face, and I am hoping to return next year. I am so grateful for the joy you have brought me and all the other readers who get to experience a wonderful weekend filled with bookish events and heaps of books to take home.

I hope you all like the plushy I got for the team! Go Tandem team! You are amazing!

Last night, @tandemcollectiveuk put on a rather splendid western-themed party for Saddle Storm! Everyone was dressed to the nines, and I had a wonderful time getting dressed up. As a huge cowboy romance reader, feeling like a real cowgirl for a night was a dream come true. I was channeling my inner Beth Dutton. It was brilliant to create content with old and new friends, and I can’t thank the Tandem Team enough for bringing us all together.

This gal finally saw The Odyssey on the big screen!!

Saw it once with the other half and again with the lovely @amyslockdownlibrary and @victoriarathm !

Interested to know people’s thoughts. How did you feel about this adaptation? Or, is it not your thing?

Entertaining? For sure! Best Greek myth adaptation? Not really. Did I have some qualms over the Americanisms throughout? Absolutely. Did Agamemnon look like he was Ancient Greek Batman? Completely.

But I still had a blast watching it!

There were definitely bits I wished had been kept in, but I understand there’s only so much you can cram into one film!

Lemme know your thoughts!!! I’d love to know your favourite part - mine was Circe!!!

“A beautiful, emotionally resonant piece of contemporary fiction that explores the pain of confronting your past regrets, but also the joy of rediscovering life again too.“ - @amyslockdownlibrary

We have loved seeing your reviews of ‘The Correspondent’ and ‘The Finest Hotel in Kabul’ over the past few weeks!

Thanks to @amyslockdownlibrary @travelsthroughbooksandbakes @libraryofacatmom, @amyjayreads @bookmarkonthewall and @solennsbooknook for sharing these lovely pictures with us. Head to their pages to read their reviews in full and make sure to tag us @womensprize for the chance to be featured!

What’s everyone reading this week?

#womensprize

“Doucet follows the lives of staff who have worked for a number of years at the hotel and through their stories we see the affects of so much change in the ordinary residents of a strained city. What comes across throughout the book is the loyalty that these workers have for the hotel and their incredible resilience not only for keeping the hotel operating but in life itself.” - @travelsthroughbooksandbakes

“From the very first piece of correspondence, you can tell what kind of character Sybil is going to be: intelligent, opinionated, strong, stubborn and witty. A captivating piece of work that l’Il be thinking about for a while” - @libraryofacatmom

“This is an incredibly eloquent and moving history of a hotel that still exists in a precarious state today, as it has since its opening.” - @amyjayreads

“Simply a warm hug in book form, this book reminds us to slow down and live a life that values human connection and community.” - @bookmarkonthewall

“What I like particularly is that Doucet lets the people of Kabul tell their own stories. She rarely interposes her own presence and in fact refers to herself in the third-person to create that distance and there is a real humility in that approach, and it underscores the deep respect she has for the people whose lives intersect with the hotel.“ - @solennsbooknook

2025 what a year you’ve been. Plenty of laughter, lots of tears. Ups and downs. The year we finally put our house on the market. The year of looking round Secondary schools, injuries, new job and finding out I’m going to be a grandma for the first time!
.
Got so much to look forward to in 2026, but here’s a very brief recap of my 2025 - in pictures!
.
1. A day spent in one of the reading rooms in the British Library. Researching and writing with my dad.
2. Birthday pancake stack in Lanzarote!
3. Meeting the gorgeous Nadia and handsome Dan Walker.
4. Bookish retreat with @tandemcollectiveuk and my beautiful girlies.
5. Big family holiday in Glastonbury.
6-8. June was the month for authors!! I met @anniegarthwaite in Sheffield, spent some time in London with my son @l.sykes_author as they released their first children’s book and attended an event with @elodielharper where we actually visited the Boudicca statue! June was a GREAT MONTH!
July was spent cleaning, tidying and sorting our house out to put on the market. No time for pictures this month 😂
9. A trip to Disneyland in the summer holidays. I’d injured my shoulder at work just before we went so I spent the week high on pain killers with my arm in a sling. The pain was the worst I’ve ever experienced and it meant I missed out on most of the rides, but look at these smiling faces. At least we made it. 🥰
10. The second week of our holiday was spent in Albert - one of my favourite places. A more chilled out week, definitely a different pace than Disney.
11. Precious weekends at my Mums caravan.
12. After weeks of light duties at work, I moved across to a new job while my shoulder repairs. When I was feeling down, this rainbow shone from a crystal in the window and lifted my spirits.
13. October half term in the Lake District.
14. Attending the first ever @whitby_lit_fest and enjoying all things bookish!
15-16: Christmas fun and adventures with my kids. Isn’t that what Christmas is all about?
.
Here’s to the year that was and the year that’s yet to come!!
.
Happy New Years Eve Peeps 😘

🫦💦Want - Gillian Anderson💦🫦

Eased gently in with fantasies we can perhaps all relate to on some level, then jeez does this ramp up to some seriously individual stuff. The progression is deliberate, but I recommend dipping in and out, or you risk finding it repetitive and boring as Anderson chunks the fantasies into themes.

Some fantasies are liberating and sexy, others deeply melancholic; stories about wanting connection made me feel sad, because that feels like a human necessity as opposed to a want. Anderson explores the complexities of women often wanting many opposing things to be true at once; the desperation to 'escape from the neverending mental load'; a striking theme of the more money you earn the more you wish to relinquish control. One of the most affecting threads for me was how so many women fantasise about being safe - how lucky I am to take that for granted.

I wanted to know the age of every woman, it's easy to assume with age sex drive dissipates, but that is evidently not the case. What has been divisive amongst readers, of which I am a fan, is that the book doesn't analyse; these submissions don't need to be dissected, they just allow women to feel seen and accepted, and hopefully alleviate any shame in others - because sadly shame is a consistent theme. This book may not be a groundbreaking scrutiny of sexual fantasies, but it is a sure fire sign we need to talk more about what turns us on, and not feel the need to know the underlying how, what, why.

Aesthetically, I'm obsessed with the cover and end pages. And at its core, Want is about desire as expression rather than instruction - “many women want to share, they want to be heard, seen and validated - and, well, quite simply, they want.” This feels like a permission slip; for every woman to read this book and realise we do have sexual power, we can ask for what we want, we are not alone, and we are deserving of the pleasure we crave.

And if Want isn’t for you, I cannot recommend more fiercely watching 'Babygirl'. Nicole Kidman is utterly captivating and its message on women's repressed desires and expectation from others is excellent.
